How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Cramped bar area and access. Major problems with the breakfast service and staff did not work in any sense of effeiciency.
Room facilities good and dinner menu and service were excellent. Communal areas around the bar were comfortable and the overall decor was attractive Limited WiFi service

Duvets on bed were too heavy for summer. Limited choice of gluten-free options for dinner, especially desserts.
Room was spacious. Lift to upper floors was a big plus for us. Breakfast was excellent, with gluten-free options available. Staff polite and friendly.

Wifi signal was very poor throughout the hotel. Dinner and breakfast plates were a bit small. Loud noise of ventilators in our room all day (but was turned off at night).
Location was perfect for trains and West Highland Way. Characteristic and comfy hotel. A very dog friendly place. Complimentary breakfast sausage for our dog, daily delivered by super friendly hotel staff. Nice Scottish breakfast with vegan breakfast options as well.

Rooms smelled a bit musty.
The room was fine. The bed was comfortable, the walls thick enough to keep out the noise and the shower was strong with consistent hot water. The rooms were a bit dated and did smell a little bit musty when we went in. The common areas of the hotel were great. We had drinks and food at the small bar each night and did some ready in the library area. The breakfast was also very good with a fair amount of choices for the main plate and a small buffet with juices, bread, yogurt etc. All-in-all a decent place for two nights

the room was quite hot and the thermostat did not work to cool down room (i think the batteries were flat), I only noticed at midnight so didn't want to bother reception.
great location for munros, pet friendly, rooms clean, bed comfortable and staff friendly and helpful

The outside of the property looked a bit tired compared to the inside which was very good.

Room too hot and couldn't open windows because of midges. Maybe a screen needs to be added so you can still open windows. Had a fan but didn't really help the heat.

I would have liked a bath instead of a shower, but that was more to do with walking the West Highland Way and soothing my aching limbs! Under normal circumstances the shower would have been more than adequate.
Breakfast was great, bed was comfortable. There was a drying room that I made use of. The food in the restaurant was excellent as well.

Staff very friendly and service was very good. I was a bit miffed by my dinner portion for the money I paid ( Venison tiny portion and minute veg to go with it so I wouldn't recommend it) and found I had to pay extra for breakfast £20 means the price for BnB for 2 in a double room was £172. Breakfast was good...

One of the windows cannot be open. Other than that, everything is fine.
The staff are friendly and the location is convenient. Besides, they have got a dry room which helped us a lot after the heavy rain. The food in the restaurant is good.

Parking across the road was not a problem with just overnight bags, but could be awkward with big suitcases.

Outdated room setting. Renovation of the 70’/80’s. Shower faucet so difficult to adjust. Air conditioning not running.

The main road can be noisy. Plumbing made a noise at night.
