Hotel in Downtown San Francisco, San Francisco
Ideally located in San Francisco, citizenM San Francisco Union Square has air-conditioned rooms, a fitness center, free WiFi and a shared lounge. The hotel room was small but more than enough for two people and every setting was controlled using a tablet or the mobile app on your phone. Very minimalistic and very enjoyable. It was also really silent and the bed was amazingly comfortable. The staff was super nice and the breakfast was a buffet with several options, and a bonus hot drink you can choose (latte, cappuccino, espresso...) and they will prepare it for you. You can also choose cleaning days and for each day you skip cleaning service a donation is made to a charity! Really really enjoyed my stay at this hotel!

San Diego/ Del Mar, La Jolla, Mission bay are all beautiful cities close to each other with a lot of activities to see and do.. Located on or near the beach.. I'm a California native and reside in Los Angeles.. I always enjoy a get away to any of these places to have some fun and be on the beach!
Well, traffic in a city is never great, but there were plenRy of great eating establishmen's in walking distance. Uber drivers were pleasant, however drove a little fast and close. The museum was great and the King Tut exhibition. We like Disneyland so much better than Disney World and California is far superior to Floriduh.
Beautiful views. Lots of sightseeing. Great shops. Wonderful food! Lakeside Beach & Camp Richardson were two of my favorite places. California Burger is a must and if you’re looking for something romantic and worth your money Riva Grill!
San Simeon, moonstone beach and close by Cambria are my favorite places in California. It's so peaceful. Perfect for relaxing and a romantic getaway. We go there as often as possible to escape for a couple days.
Most people travel through this area either the long drive between California and Oregon or treat it as an overnight before exploring Mt Lassen or the Trinity Alps - Shasta National Forest. Being the county seat and the most populated California city north of Sacramento it offers access to traveler needs.
Nice coastal town with an interesting fishing harbor. Surprisingly fine California/Italian dining at Cucina Verona for a small town away from major urban centers. Interesting shops that we didn’t have time to explore. Headlands Coffeehouse next door was an lovely place to have breakfast and hang out. Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens are an extraordinary place to wander and find interesting plants. Art in the Gardens in August brings very fine artisans to the gardens for an outstanding craft fair.
Your 8n between Disneyland Knott's Berry Farm and a hop skip and a jump from the beautiful California Beaches.
Santa Barbara is one of the most beautiful places on the California coast. The climate is usually perfect. There is plenty to keep you busy or if you prefer to relax on the beach...this is the spot. The restaurants and bars are amazing. Wine tasting is a short distance too. What more can you ask for!
So much here: beach walking, cycling, whale watching, museums, aquariums, Big Sur, Laguna Seca Raceway, and exquisite dining all in a temperate climate. It's some of the very best California has to offer! We visited two stand-out eateries on this trip: Pavel's Backerei in Pacific Grove (words cannot describe their fresh pastries) and Lalla Oceanside Grill on Cannery Row.
Santa Cruz is a prototypical California surf-city. Boardwalk, beaches, restaurants, shopping, etc. however, the homeless have put a stain on this great little town.
This hotel is so beautiful. And the services accompany in the same way. Bed was supercomfortable. Bathroom was split and the level of cleanliness and details in the towels and toiletries were superb. Breakfast included was so varied that made for our meal that day. The room temperature was so adequate, not too cold, not too hot, even if that was the hottest day of the year in California. And very silent. Felt we were alone in the hotel. And the price was a steal to be honest. Would happily have paid the double for the service provided.
Hotel in general good, but price too high and No bottle of water in the room!!!! It’s unbelievable! I paid $308 for 20 hours stay and NO ONE BOTTLES OF WATERin room !!! California, San Diego, pretty hot weather 🥵 “you can buy bottle of the water in the lobby” … but it’s so easy for good reputation, when you are worried about your customers, Hilton… Don't be embarrassed and leave some water in the rooms!!!! And it’s pretty Weird - so big and modern hotel and no one electric charging in the parking? Really? 🤦♀️🥵🤦♀️
Hotel Playa Carmel is quintessential California quaint. As we stroll through the town and down to the beach it was obvious there was nowhere else we want to stay in Carmel. The staff was excellent always happy and ready to assist. From beautiful breakfast buffets, coffee/tea service early each am (for east coasters!) to excellent cappuccinos upon request-All included in the hotel cost. Although everything in town is walkable the hotel offers a shuttle service at night for when you want to dress up/drink.
We booked the hotel last minute as we were not sure where we would be on our California road trip! This hotel was a great find, I read the excellent reviews and thought will book and we were not disappointed! The rooms were accessible from the carpark, cosy, homely and they thought of everything. Nice coffee, little complimentary touches, makeup station, comfortable bed, fridge, popcorn for film watching! Hotel is so convenient to Pismo beach and getting back on the road. Well done, a great stay!
The location can't be beat for staying off Disney. Just feet from the park you will not need any type of transportation to get to both Disneyland and California Adventure! Although the rates were higher than some other good neighbor hotels we still saved about $200 a night compared to the Disneyland Hotel, all while being very close to the park! We stayed in a King room that was updated and very clean. Check out is at NOON! Very convenient when you need that extra rest before you leave!
The style of the hotel is early California Spanish style tastefully decorated old school. For an older hotel. It was very clean. Convenient location to Disneyland about a 10 minute drive. It’s so nice having plugs inside the bathroom area and outside in the vanity area. So two people can get ready at the same time. An added touch is the little barstool by the vanity so you can sit while you are doing your hair and make up. Decent TV channels. Good WiFi. Nice BIG kitchenette.
My wife and I have stayed here numerous times as we travel up the coast to California. Due to COVID-19 and lack of tourism in San Luis Obispo The former owners close the hotel and restaurant. The former owners of the Hotel recently sold it to a new operator, who consequently is just getting started with re-opening the facility. Refurbishment and enhancement are underway. Don’t let that discourage you from stopping at this amazing hotel.
Great location, just a 5 min walk across the road to the harbour and beach, with great views of the Queen Mary. Great restaurant on the harbour called Parkers Lighthouse. Cinema and clothes shopping even closer with another 2 restaurant's ,California Pizza Kitchen the other one was called something Island. About a 45 min drive to Universal Studios and a 30 min drive to Santa Monica. Great location
The room was sooo comfortable and tidy. The staff were amazing. We arrived late for check in due to a delayed flight and nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of parking. The shower is the best in the USA I’ve been travelling for the month throughout California all the way to New York and the shower here has been the best so far! Nothing I’ve experienced in the United States compares.
Groveland
beautiful place with an amazing games room that all the family loved! everything in there was free for a change! it was great fun, all areas of this place are really lovely, we went on a beautiful evening walk straight from our apartment, and the hot tub and s’mores kits were the icing on the cake! by far our favourite place by far on our 3 week California road trip :)
Clean and organized. Everyone friendly and efficient we go to Disney a lot and iv been trying all hotels it’s been 6 hotels near Disney that have been not so great I was starting to think maybe after pandemic service standards changed however this hotel was actually as comfortable and accommodating as the grand California hotel! And breakfast was included !!!
Everything was great, I travel to this hotel a lot. It's my favourite hotel in California. At least a few times a year I come to stay for a mini escape - alone or with friends, It's always nice and relaxing. Dog friendly and it helped me to travel there with my dog - so many other awesome pet owners there, such a great place for a truly relaxing time.
Breakfast was basic but sufficient. Location was along a busy road so this could be better. Overall the layout of the hotel, the reception and complementary items were above expectation. On our 16 days trip we stayed at 9 different hotels across California and Nevada. Mostly 4 and 5 stars, but Hotel California was the best by far.
I loved meeting the owner and the history behind this hotel. From the GM Katrina to all her dedicated staff members including Marcos, Sylvia, Jackie, along with the housekeeping staff, my stay was the best it could be. Thank you so much for making it special as I re entered California from Florida. I do appreciate all of you. TammyJo
Spotlessly clean, beautifully maintained. A quick, pleasant walk to the fun Funk Zone and the beach. We drove but could easily have taken the train -- also close to the train station. Not as glamorous as Hotel California but world's less expensive. Good price performer.
I Loved the welcome Drink, was delicious also loved the distance from the hotel to Disneyland/California adventures perfect less then 10min walk. also loved the little Disney pops around the hotel lobby n floors.pool was warm enough to dip n in the night
The hotel exceeded our expectations having come from a crazily expensive hotel in Las Vegas that couldn’t even do the basics. This hotel is the top hotel we have stayed in out of the five we have used in our California trip. Absolutely perfect in every way
Host TJ was great, super friendly and helpful. Hotel location was good, an easy walk from both the boardwalk and pier and downtown area. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Santa Cruz is a cool town and made a perfect stop off on our California road trip!
Groveland
I enjoyed the genuine traditional style of the hotel and rooms. Just across the road is the oldest saloon of California with a good beer and tasty food. Attentive and nice host who is always happy to help and give good tips on what to see in the area.
Great location to Disneyland and California Adventures. Pizza Press next door offered breakfast which was convenient before heading to the parks. Parking lot needed badge access to park in the hotel lot. Lobby is renovated and welcoming.
