Boathouse Apartments was developed to fill a need for quality, modern holiday accommodation in Vava'u. Overlooking the harbour, the four apartments were built in 2013 and have proven extremely popular with travellers, tourists and corporate guests. Air conditioning was added to all apartments in 2016.
Owners, Helen and Shane Walker have 21 years of tourism history in Vava'u commencing with the Sunsail Yacht Charter business in 1996, acquisition of The Moorings Yacht charters (Tonga) in 2004, the building of Mango Bar and Restaurant in 2006 and then purchasing and redeveloping Tongan Beach Resort in 2010. With a focus on providing training and employment opportunities for the local Tongan community, the Walkers currently employ over 40 local staff.
Boathouse Apartments is centrally located on the waterfront of Neiafu harbour, there are several restaurants, bars, banks and convenience stores located within a few minutes walk of the property. With the major tourism focus on water sports and activities, Vava'u is truly Natures Marine Adventure land and most marine business operators commence their daily trips from Neiafu. The Neiafu harbour also becomes home to over 400 cruising yachts each year as they voyage across the Pacific exploring the many uninhabited islands that the South Pacific offers.
