The room had everything we needed for a comfortable stopover — including a fridge and microwave. The indoor and outdoor play areas for children are a real bonus, and the breakfast is superb. Great value for money.

Perfect spot if you appreciate the view and Slovenian hospitality. Unfortunately a lot of guests are only using it as a cheap one night stop and don't use the full potential of the location. The host and his team definitely deserve more...

Please don’t focus solely on the price—if you do, you may miss what makes this place truly special. Janče is officially the highest peak in Ljubljana (792 m). Our mountain lodge can be reached by a scenic asphalt road, winding in some parts. The building is 64 years old and its condition reflects its history. It is owned by the Alpine Association of Slovenia, a non-governmental, non-profit organization, and its original purpose was to serve as a shelter for hikers in the mountains. Slovenia has a deep-rooted tradition of mountaineering. The money we earn from tourism helps maintain mountain trails and huts all over the country. We currently offer just three rooms, as that is what is logistically feasible in this building. Each room is uniquely designed, and all the furnishings are handmade from repurposed and renewed materials. There are no bathrooms in the rooms, but each room has a private bathroom located in the corridor. Please note that there is no air conditioning in the rooms. Most importantly: do not expect luxury here. What we offer is something different—something authentic. We offer a true mountain lodge experience, where guests wake up to the scent of wood, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and mentally reset thanks to the peaceful location and stunning views. You’ll enjoy one of the most beautiful views in all of Slovenia—on a clear day, you can see across the entire country. For lovers of nature, hiking, peace, and animals, this is a little paradise. It’s also an ideal spot for families: children can play freely and safely in the large outdoor area, and we also have an indoor playroom for children up to 8 years old. This is also a great place for a digital detox 😊 In our restaurant (we do not have a Michelin star 😊), we serve home-cooked seasonal local dishes, and we are also known for our excellent pizzas.
Hosting here means more to me than just offering a place to stay—it's about sharing a piece of Slovenia’s mountain tradition and creating a space where guests can reconnect with nature and themselves. During the long lockdowns of the last pandemic, I spent my days restoring this lodge with my own hands. I searched the surrounding forests for discarded wood, carefully renewed each piece, and crafted every room with love and dedication. It took a lot of time, but every detail was made with heart—with the goal of preserving the original spirit of a mountain hut and creating something truly authentic. Every guest is important to me. If I'm present when you arrive, I’ll gladly show you around the lodge, share the panoramic view, and point out what you can see in the distance—from Triglav to the Kamnik Alps. What makes me happiest is when guests feel that this place is exactly what they were looking for—and when they truly understand and appreciate the work and passion behind it. I look forward to welcoming you!
