    Lovely little cosy cottage with lots of character. Plenty of hot water and heating too though it was quite warm enough and we did not need to use the heating. The walls were super thick and retained the warmth.

I am a friendly farmer who enjoys meeting people from different counties. I live on my farm with my wife Mairead. I have 4 children who are all away working now. I have an interest in history and I am always happy to fill you on on the sites to be seen in North Meath. During your stay you will be welcome to walk around the farm. Any dogs must be kept on leads when walking around.

Rathgillen Lodge is renovated stone cottage from the 1800's. With plenty of character, the living/kitchen has a wood burning stove set into a big hearth. There is a fully fitted kitchen , double bedroom and pull out sofa-bed. The space Rathgillen Lodge is situated on a 125-acre working farm and enjoys beautiful views of the countryside. The location is quiet and peaceful and yet is only 1 km from the pretty village of Nobber and 1-hour drive from Dublin and 1 hour from Belfast. Meath is an area of legend of folklore, Vikings & Normans, castles and crosses and lots of monastic ruins to visit. It is also an area for great fishing, beautiful sandy beaches, horse riding and golf. Shops, pubs and restaurants are located nearby. We are situated 10 km from Cabra Castle Hotel and 16 km from Navan Town. The renovated stone cottage has lots of character and has oil central heating , solar panels and a woodburning stove. The accommodation sleeps 2 in the main bedroom with a pull out sofa-bed in the living area offering room for a further 2 people. It is suitable for all needs with wide doors and a wet room bathroom. Neighbourhood information

We are close to the Boyne Valley where you can visit Newgrange Neolithic site, Knowth and Dowth. You can also visit Slane Castle, Trim Castle and Cabra Castle which are all a short drive away.
