This home was purchased from Venetians over 200 years ago, our grandfather paid for it in gold coins. It was a lookout tower for the ships going thru the Korcula canal. When we inherited this property we could not refurbish it right away. It took years of hard work, love and money to bring it to the present condition. The structure is over 400 years old, its walls made out of local stone that are a meter wide. This type of structure locals call "Kula" which translates into a tower. Everything in the building has been refurbished and updated to the current standards. It is protected by the Croatian Ministry of antiquities, and outside shape or walls can not be changed at all. There are only 5 of such buildings in all of Lumbarda - all historical buildings. We are very proud and thankful for this heritage. Hope It will be in our family for another 200 years.
We spend 4-5 months of the summer in Lumbarda right next to this historic house. We take care of the property, cultivate olive trees and lemon trees - and love the privacy it provides. Views from the house are breathtaking, beautiful Adriatic in front, hills of Peljesac peninsula in the distance, we watch all the yachts and fishing boats go by, while sipping a glass of Grk - Lumbarda's unique white wine on our terraces.
