Company information

Michael has worked in the hotel industry for the past 40 years running large and small hotels and public houses in Brighton and Hove. Moved to the Isle of Wight in 1998 when I purchased the Dorset Hotel. works seven days a week and can usually be found on reception or in the kitchen cooking breakfast.

Property information

We offer a large FREE CAR park at the rear of the house with parking for 20 vehicles. The house was built in 1842 and in 1862 became the foreign office for the Osbourne House estate during the reign of Queen Victoria. At the front of the building we have two cast iron pillows which represent two of her nine children these are grade one listed. The house is typical of many victorian establishments which makes Ryde quite unique. We have the added bonus of being able to see the sea from the hotel and admire many of today's largest cruise liners as they sail pass. The seafront and six miles of sandy beaches are within walking distance of the hotel and the many fine restaurants and public houses are a short stroll into town. We are very central but not in the noisy area. The present owners acquired the hotel in 1998. 23 rooms in total, all with tv, hospitality tray and our dining room offers an extensive breakfast menu with many choices to start the day off. The photos on the website are for guideline purposes only as all rooms are individually decorated and no guarantee is given that you will end up in the room featured.

Neighbourhood information
