A clean, shiny and spacious property with lots of windows and light. The kitchen, dining, living space, looking out over the garden, was delightful and there were tables and chairs on the patio to enjoy a coffee in the sun had we wished to.

Cambridge's best kept secret! The Thorpe Guest House is situated in the beautiful riverside village of Hemingford Grey. Just 3 miles from the picturesque market town of St Ives, 4 miles from Huntingdon and 14 miles to Cambridge, this is a wonderful base to explore East Anglia. The house itself offers modern luxury accommodation set within an unusual contemporary architectural framework providing plenty of room to relax and unwind. Breakfast is available in the large Garden Room or indeed on the patio....weather permitting! Our rooms are contemporary and spacious, featuring Super King Size beds, that can also be presented as Twin beds. Three of our rooms benefit from their own en-suite facilities with walk in power shower, whilst the other has a separate private bathroom sitting adjacent to the room. Each room has Tea and Coffee making facilities, comfortable seating and a flat screen TV with Freeview and radio capability. This pretty village and the surrounding area is dominated by The River Great Ouse. Why not spend a morning walking the infamous ‘Thicket’, following the river from the Grey to the Abbots, our twin village, and then on to Houghton Mill, a National Trust site, before striking out for St Ives, nee Slepe, the historic riverside market town with it’s world famous Oliver Cromwell Bridge, before heading back across the meadows to the Hemingfords. Reward yourselves for this 6.5 mile trek with a well earned repast at the Cock Public House, voted Pub of the Year 2013 by the good Pubs Guide - don’t worry, it is a 7 minute walk from the house! Even closer is the Hemingford Sport & Social Club which welcomes our residents. Enjoy a drink at the Bar, watch live Sports on TV or just relax on the balcony in the evening sun and take in the Tennis, Bowls, Cricket or Squash. For those who wish the gym facility welcomes our guests at a nominal price. Whether for business or pleasure we do hope you enjoy your stay with us.
Nicky and Stewart (profile pictures) It is only a game As a sporting family we have always put great store in approaching life as we would a sporting fixture and prepare ourselves accordingly. As for the Guest House we do our utmost to put our Guests at ease and if they are happy then we are happy !. Nicky Still playing Squash, Golf and irritatingly Bowls to a high standard. 4 Grandchildren from nowhere and works part time. How does she fit it all in I hear you cry Stewart As a direct consequence of attempting to keep our guests happy at all times, both my Squash and Golf have taken a turn for the worse and irritatingly as mentioned I don’t play bowls to a high level!! But as I said … it is only a Game ! Absolute Must Do Bucket List The "Walk" around the Meadows of the River Great Ouse Beautiful historic Riverport of St Ives Cambridge but make a point of using “The Bus on a Track” Visit Ely and the Cathedral and see the Coronation Table The Manor House and Gardens Houghton Water Mill The Cock Public House Always Remember "No hills and lots of Pubs!!"
The Guest House is in a very quiet and private area just 7 minutes away from the Village with it's award winning Pub and Restaurant, the Cock, voted Pub of the Year 2013 by the Good Pubs Guide. This is a very peaceful village with plenty of opportunities to walk, cycle or take to the river but you also know that you can be either in busy St Ives, Huntingdon or Cambridge in a very short space of time.... the choice is yours.
