The Piggery at the Cottage is an amazing self contained studio annex set in the grounds of a traditional Dorset thatched cottage, dating from 1753. With its vaulted ceiling and oak trusses, its the perfect cosy hideaway for two in the heart of the Jurassic coast. Close to beaches and a few mins walk from the local pub serving food and the train station. Popular sites such as Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Wareham Quay, Bovington Tank Museum and Monkey World are 5 mins drive away. Free wifi plus bike/kayak storage on site. The annex was a former piggery to the cottage and has been tastefully rebuilt using original materials and boasts high vaulted ceiling and oak trusses and really is a love place to be in. You have access to the entire space where you can unwind and relax. A former piggery to the cottage, it has been tastefully rebuilt using original materials and boasts high vaulted ceiling and oak trusses. Patio doors lead out to your own secluded sunny garden where you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine and prepare for your next day of adventures, perhaps a Jurassic coastal walk, hiring a boat, kayaking or just a day at the beach.
My husband Scott and I live at the cottage, so we can be at hand as much or as little as the guests would like! If ever we are away for your visit, we have a key code system, so that guests may come and go as they like. We are on hand to provide any local advise you may need and to tell you our favourate spots should you need it. You don't need to see us or hear from us unless you want to.
There are three pubs within easy walking distance, all serve food. We are a few mins walk from both the pub at the heart of the village and a 'local' supermarket for supplies. The Jurassic coast is wonderful for walking and exploring and has fantastic beaches and coastal walks. Studland, Swanage, Weymouth and Poole Quay are all just a short drive away , Wareham quay is 10 mins away where you can enjoy the restaurants on the quay or hire your own boat along the river. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are 5 mins away and offer splendid scenery being on the Jurassic coast , great walking with the South West Coast Path, beaches with great water activities and array of pubs and restaurants located by the cove. Train station serving Weymouth to London is 5 minutes walk away and the Jurassic Coaster bus stop is immediately outside the property. Street parking is usually possible right outside the property. There are many walking and cycling routes in this area with the South West Coast Path 5 mins drive away. There are also various boating activities in this area. On a rainy day, take a train one stop to Brewery Square, Dorchester which has an array of shops/restaurants by the station
