Make your stay in Edinburgh truly memorable with a stay at Craigiehall Temple. Built in 1759 and situated in its own grounds on a former part of the Craigiehall Estate, it carries a Grade A listing for its stunning Doric portico displaying the coat of arms of the 1st Marquess of Annandale. A plaque set into the wall carries a quote from Horace: "Dum Iicet, in rebus jucundis vive beatus", "live happy while you can among joyful things". We hope that a stay at the Temple will deliver this experience and stay true to this vision. The Temple has a castle-like feel to it and is spread across two floors. There's a sumptuous living space on the ground floor featuring a large log fire, elegant leather furnishings, a dining table and a cabinet. On the upper floor, there's a large bedroom containing an Emperor sized bed beneath a dramatic overhead oculus inscribed with Latin text and a further log fire. There's a full bathroom on the upper floor with a power shower. The property does not have a kitchen but there is a large fridge, a toaster, crockery, cutlery, glasses, cups and mugs, a coffee maker and kettles on both floors. Soiled items can be placed in the lobby and will be cleaned and returned daily by housekeeping. We also provide a selection of teas and coffees. As stated above, the property does not have a kitchen but take-out food can easily be ordered in or brought back and we provide all necessary items to serve it up. There are also at least four great cafes and restaurants within just a few minutes drive that serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. We are not a bed and breakfast, but special requests can be made for us to assist with cooking basic dishes. We will see if we can accommodate on a case by case basis.
We already run one short term rental on the property. It's great being able to deliver a happy experience for guests.
The property sits on the outskirts of Edinburgh in a small pocket of rural Scotland. There is only a 15 minute drive into the town centre.
