Craggan is situated in a quiet location 1 mile from the picturesque Victorian village of Ballater. This former Manse was built in 1870 and sits within 2.5 acres of garden and woodland boasting stunning views of the surrounding countryside with the towering hills of The Coyles of Muick, Cairn Leuchan and Clachan Yell to the front, rocky crags and a pine forest to the East and the towering splendour of the mountain of Lochnagar to the West. The house retains many of its original features and offers 3 luxurious individually decorated guest rooms each with private bathroom. The ground floor room also has a private terrace. Breakfast is served daily between 8.00 and 9.30 am offering both cooked options and buffet style breakfast with a variety of cereals, pastries, fruit, yoghurt and teas and coffees.
Ballater has long been a centre for tourism in the Highlands. Presently many of the buildings date from the Victorian era and the village centre is currently a conservation area. Ballater is now a busy and bustling community with a variety of shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and Arts and Crafts Galleries that welcomes tourists from around the world all the year round. The Cairngorms is the largest National Park in the United Kingdom. It is also the highest in parts. It has so much to offer and there is a whole host of activities to choose from either within walking distance of the village or a short drive away. There are activities to suit everyone from hiking up Lochnagar and mountain biking to browsing the shops and relaxing in one of the many cafes and bars. Balmoral Castle is just 6 miles to the West of Ballater. This historic castle is open to the public from 1 April each year offering a variety of activities. The village of Braemar home of the famous Highland Games is just a further 10 miles away. Lochnagar is part of the Mounth being 3,789 feet in height which qualifies it as a Munro.
