Hacienda del Arbol in Flamingo is a 5-bedroom, 5.5-bath beachfront mansion in Flamingo that may be one of the finest homes you’ve ever seen. Brilliantly designed and professionally decorated, this immense structure features huge interior spaces with soaring cane ceilings, anchored by a central spiral staircase. And you could throw a rock into the ocean from the rear deck — underhand. The three bedroom upstairs and one downstairs all have king beds, walk-in closets, huge private bathrooms and ocean views. Big, furnished balconies look out on the crashing waves on the exclusive southern end of Flamingo Beach. The huge terrace downstairs features a private infinity pool, covered outdoor dining for eight, lots of patio furniture and a large barbecue. Flamingo Flamingo is a high-end beachfront community notable for its dazzling ocean views and the beautiful, hilly peninsula that juts out into the Pacific, separating Playa Potrero from Playa Flamingo. Flamingo is home to a wide array of stunning homes and vacation rentals, as well as humbler lodging options, and it has restaurants, grocery stories, banks and other conveniences. Construction began in December 2019 on a state-of-the-art marina that is expected to lead to an economic boom in this already prosperous town. Other recent developments here include the opening of the 360 Splendor del Pacifico luxury condominiums on the very top of the North Ridge, plus the rebranding of the all-inclusive Flamingo Beach Resort as a Margaritaville, inspired by the lyrics and laid-back lifestyle of Jimmy Buffett. Good restaurants in town include the Coco Loco, a beachfront eatery known for its coconut drinks and standout cuisine; Marie’s, a reliable standard with a long and enticing menu; Angelina’s, featuring fine Italian dining in an elegant environment; and several options at the Margaritaville, including the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill. Flamingo was largely developed by foreigners, and it lacks the traditional Costa Rican downtown with a soccer field plaza, church and school. The heart of town is an upscale commercial plaza with stone steps, fountains, restaurants and shops. Farther away on the road to Brasilito, you’ll find smaller restaurants, hotels, banks, a Comaco hardware store, the Jungle Gym fitness center, and the upscale grocery store Super Massai. Flamingo is more or less the centerpiece of a beautiful coastline stretching from the Reserva Conchal resort in the south to the Las Catalinas resort in the north, with the more traditional Costa Rican towns of Brasilito and Potrero in between.
