A Fairytale Place
Surrounded by green Alpine mountains, the Slovenian island of Bled is like a piece of paradise in the middle of a picturesque lake. Home to the romantic Bled Castle, this popular tourist town will amaze you with its idyllic landscape and outdoor activities.
Overlooking the Julian Alps, the iconic Assumption of Mary Pilgrimage Church was built on the ruins of a temple dedicated to the Slavic goddess of love, Zina. Bled is an amazing place.
Bled is an amazing place. A few days are not enough to see everything. It is worth walking around the lake, visiting the island and the castle. We also went hiking to Vintgar Gorge and Mount Vogel. Very beautiful places and you can also do easy, medium, or difficult hikes. Slovenians really take care of the nature and give all opportunities to discover it. Two nights and three days was the right amount of time to...
Two nights and three days was the right amount of time to spend here. Lake Bled is INCREDIBLE. So much to do, paddle boarding, tobogganing, zip wire, the list is endless. We didn't go to the Gorge but will be back to do it. So many bars and restaurants and everyone is so friendly. There are only three places you can swim from so make sure it's one of these otherwise you will be fined 100 Euros. Everything is cheap once you get here and you will honestly have the time of your life. Paddle boarding is so easy here due to the lake being so flat. My daughter did for the first time. Only one street in town which makes the trafic a nightmare...
Only one street in town which makes the trafic a nightmare most of the time. So be sure to leave the car parked somewhere, which is also difficult, and move by bicicle or walking. Bled is beautiful.
Bled is beautiful. I have only said our stay was too long as I have recently had a hip replacement and my mobility was limited. Ordinarily long walks would be on the cards and a longer stay would have been good. There are plenty of restaurants and food stalls to suit all budgets. There is a road train that circles the lake regularly at €7,- per adult. There are also horse and carriage rides. Apart from that walking is the main way to get around with a circuit of the lake being a little over 6km. The walk up to the castle isn't for the feint hearted. The Castle and church on the island in the lake were...
The Castle and church on the island in the lake were stunning. We took the boat trip out to the church, which was charming and very relaxing. Vintgar Gorge is a must-see; that was one of our favourite trips while there. Bled itself was crowded, and the traffic was terrible, parking was expensive everywhere except the large car park below the castle. I thought most of the people we saw there looked sad, which surprised us when they were surrounded by such beauty. Castle at 08:00hrs, boat trip to the Island and then Gorge at 15:00hrs it only takes a day to see and enjoy the main sights in Bled. I would stay in Lake Bohinj and visit Bled from there, people looked much happier there, and it was a lot quieter.Guest review byDavidCzech Republic

The food was delicious, presented well and had a lovely atmosphere sat outside. Breakfast was also very nice with a good selection.
