Location was great. Could walk from the ferry coming to Ocracoke from Swan Quarter if desired. Facilities were older but I loved the ambience. The facilities matched the hotels name. The staff was great.

We were there off season and found a great breakfast very close by. We like off season because there are less people and getting into restaurants is very easy.

We loved the people we met from Ocracoke. We felt the store, the Pony Island Cafe were great and went there a few times. The beaches were great! Portsmouth with The Austin’s was fun and educational. The lighthouse was fun to learn about.

I personally love all the little shops.

I personally love all the little shops. The Village Craftsman has been a favorite each visit. And the new public restrooms are very nice with the little garden alongside. Don't miss the Ocracoke Lighthouse! If you like food trucks, don't miss Eduardo's. Yummy!!! We also enjoyed fresh shrimp at SmacNallys. Books to be Red was a fun shop. If you are here for any time, you should consider renting a golfcart to get around. This island is quaint and friendly, very laid back and always a delight!!!

I'm glad we visited in the shoulder season. It must be extremely crowded during the summer. The island is very vulnerable to hurricanes and flooding from sea level rise. It's probably going to disappear in a few decades or sooner, so if you want to see it...

We found no common areas or parks where we could meet our friends, sit in a swing and view the lake, ocean, sound, etc. Must either walk, rent a bike or golf cart or drive your car to any and all destinations. For those not able to stay in the sun (beach) for long periods there is not much to do but shop or visit a restaurant. After the first day of shopping, this is a good place to just sit on your motel room porch and read a book... much the same as you can do at home.

It is a place to relax in the sun and take in the ocean beach. Town is very small so unless you are participating in fishing, kayaking, parasailing, beaching and surfing there is not a lot to do. Plenty of souvenir and gift shops as well as local art. Lots of restaurants but only one positioned on a marina, Smackenally's. Nice setting for meal or casual drink. Expect expensive everything but be aware this charming little town with a short season to make the buck. We stayed at The Pony Island Inn and highly recommend. Good place to breath and chill. Be sure to bring all your needs as there is only one store in town with limited choices on essential items.
