FAQs about hotels in Bratislava

Capital with a Small Town Feel

Charming and compact Bratislava is the world’s only capital city bordering 2 countries – Austria and Hungary, all watered by the beautiful River Danube. South is the modern city and a peaceful forest, but the real Bratislava attractions are over Novy most (New Bridge), an impressive structure with an UFO-like pylon. The castle on a rock overlooking the Old Town offers the best views of it. The rock itself contains a Jewish cemetery and a literally underground club.

Opposite is St Martin’s Cathedral, coronation site of past Hungarian kings. The cobbled streets behind are lined with outdoor restaurants and bars. The city’s speciality is treska, a cold cod salad, washed down with white wine from the nearby Small Carpathian mountains.

The main square is Hlavne namestie, home to pastel-coloured buildings, a 14th-century town hall housing the city museum, and the Bratislava Christmas markets. Hodzovo namestie square features the Peace Earth sculpture and Baroque Grassalkovich Palace, the presidential residence guarded by the Slovak National Guard. Across the park is the Archiepiscopal Palace, seat of the government. All around are many Bratislava hotels, B&Bs and apartments available on Booking.com.

Before heading to Bratislava Airport, visit Kamzìk TV tower whose revolving restaurant and observation deck offer magnificent city views.

Lovely old city with beautiful buildings & cobbled streets

Lovely old city with beautiful buildings & cobbled streets Every other building in the centre is now a place to eat. We snacked at Orbis & had a lovely meal at the Slovak restaurant You can do lots of walking every day but there are cheap buses, trams & trains for further away We spent hours at the castle as it was a long walk but it felt worth it. We are an older couple & had to watch our feet due to the cobbles.

Many service workers seem unhappy to be in bratislava.

Many service workers seem unhappy to be in bratislava. Generally, it's a nice place to go with friends, but not great for solo travelers, as it's a city made specifically for having a good time with your friends, rather than meeting new people. If you're looking for authentic slovak culture, go to a smaller city or even a village and try to meet locals, and show them that you're interested in their culture - they will surely welcome you!

Bratislava was our last destination at the end of a 2 week Eurail trip. We spent 2 nights, which was a good amount of time. The place is not overrun by tourists. The castle is worth a visit, not just for the views but also for exhibitions on display inside. We purchased a ticket at the entrance. There was a 20 minute wait in line, but it was worth it if you like art and history. The old town is fun to meander through.

It is a picturesque city that needs a 2- 3 days visiut in order to fully appreciate it. We arrived by a Catamaran boat through the Danube river from Vienna. The journey lasted for 1 hour and 15 minutes and it was a very nice experience. (its a must if you are travelling from Vienna). The Old Town is very picturesque with a lot of choise for food or drink. Narrow cobbler stone streets and nicely preserved buildings give you an idea of what it would be like to live in this town 4 centuries ago. Outside the Old Town, there are lots of "Brutalism" samples of architecture. The Radio Station building and the area around it , is worth visiting.

Breakfast was fabulous indeed, the waiter from the restaurant very helpful and proactive. Room was very spacious, above my expectations. Parking is not provided free of charge, so we didn't use the service. The city provides cheaper parking just outside the hotel, but the receptionist helped with information regarding this and this was precious. I would definitely choose this hotel again if I'll travel again in Bratislava. 5 stars from me.

A very charming hotel, central in Bratislava. We loved the rooms, that portrayed different movie stars, in an old fashioned style. The room was really spacious and clean. Staff was excellent and very helpful. 10-15 min walk from the old town, in an area with many restaurants, cafes and shops. Parking was easy in the parking garage. Breakfast was healthy with a good selection. We would definitely come back here.

It's in the middle of the old town/city centre. Just outside of the hostel you'll find lots of restaurants, bars, cafes etc. That makes it very convenient for exploring Bratislava when there is not much time. Also the kitchen was neat and the coffee machine was free of charge. Everything else was pretty clean as well.
