As before, the room size is amazing. Large room and comfortable bed. They were kind enough to turn on the air conditioning before my arrival and this made the room even more comfortable. The location is also very nice. There is no hassle of parking on the property.

Gleaming With Global Importance

Between desert and the Persian Gulf, Al Khobar is one of 3 neighbouring cities at the heart of the global oil industry. Dammam is the largest and has a huge port, while Dhahran houses a huge mall and the headquarters of Saudi Aramco - the world’s largest oil company. The Ghawar Field – the world’s largest oil field – is south-west and there are smaller fields nearer the cities.

Given their international importance, these cities have a large expat community and a host of world-renowned brands of shops, hotels and restaurants. Many are along the waterfront Corniche, one of Saudi Arabia’s most visited spots outside Mecca and Medina.

Lining the western edge of Al Khobar (or Al Khubar), this promenade passes palm-lined parks, a white mosque jutting into the sea, and a futuristic-looking water tower on a small island. The Corniche also backs sandy beaches with warm waters, though the best beaches are in Half Moon Bay.

This affluent city has no shortage of shops and popular Al Rashid Mall includes a children’s amusement area. The Giant Stores are also worth a look, even if just to see the gigantic shopping trolley out front.

One of the highlights was strolling along the Corniche. The views of the Arabian Gulf are absolutely breathtaking—calm waters, soft breezes, and a lively yet relaxing atmosphere. It’s the perfect place for a morning walk or sunset watching. The beaches are well-maintained, making it a great spot for families or anyone looking to unwind. The city’s culinary scene is fantastic. I enjoyed fresh seafood at local restaurants, which was simply delicious. There’s also a variety of international cuisines, reflecting the city’s diverse and cosmopolitan vibe. Shopping was a pleasure too, especially at places like Al Rashid Mall and the bustling Al Khobar Souk, where you can find everything from traditional crafts to modern fashion. The infrastructure in Al Khobar is impressive—luxurious hotels, modern shopping centers, and friendly people who genuinely make you feel welcome. It’s easy to get around, and the city’s strategic location makes it a great base for exploring nearby Dammam and Dhahran. Plus, the natural surroundings, including parks and nearby beaches like Half Moon Bay, offer plenty of outdoor activities. Overall, Al Khobar is a city that offers a perfect blend of relaxation, cultural richness, and modern amenities. I left with wonderful memories and a strong desire to return. If you’re planning a trip to Saudi Arabia, I highly recommend adding Al Khobar to your itinerary—you won’t be disappointed!

    The front desk staff is warm and welcoming, and the room and facilities offer good value for the money. The location is fantastic, and there is plenty of parking available. While there were a few minor issues, such as a broken light bulb and bathroom fixtures, they were promptly addressed. It's also helpful to bring extra extension cords if you're here for a business trip.

    Beaches are wonderful there.

    Beaches are wonderful there. Also, I saw people doing fishing and enjoying their time. Most of the beaches were free and resorts were very good. The city is calm, do not have much traffic, easy to explore and lively. Half moon beach in Al-Khobar is the best place to visit.

    For a reputed 4-star hotel, the breakfast was not impressive. Cold boiled eggs, poor choices for western palates, a weak toaster and instant coffee...about 2.5 stars. The waiter went down to the coffee shop and brought me back an Americano, so 5 stars for service. There were very few people in the hotel who spoke English, except for the lovely little receptionist, Anhal (Annie), who was friendly and helpful. She got me into my room much earlier than usual, as I had arrived on an early flight.
