The location was excellent for taking the coach in from Queenstown - 2 minutes walk from the DOC office where the coach stops. The bath tub was a lovely treat after long hiking days.

The property is perfectly located near the Town Center. The rooms are clean . A little old fashioned but you get what you pay for . I was a little skeptical after reading some negative reviews but for the price you pay you get a very good hotel .

My family and I really loved the hotel and the Family Suite. They did not wish to leave as we feeling so much at home. The location of your hotel is also one of your greatest assets as it is so picturesque and set in a breathtaking location. Te Anau being the gateaway for Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, and Otago is also the icing on the cake. We have a tremendous and fun filled time. Thank you so much. We are looking to return in 2 years time.

It was the most beautiful property everything in it was tastefully chosen and top of the line. Its location was great just a short walking distance away from the shops and restaurants. We just loved the heated bathroom floors as when we were there it was very cold and wet and the bed was very comfortable.

    What a delightful little town!

What a delightful little town! The glow worm caves were an absolute highlight, especially with the stunning waterfall inside—such a magical experience. The town is clean, walkable, and full of charming little shops and scenic walks. Plus, the grocery store was top-notch for anything you might need. I highly recommend visiting this hidden gem!

We ended up staying at the Tasman holiday park, the bed was so much more comfortable and the manager there was so lovely. Te Anau was a great spot to see the glow worm caves, which was our highlight and we drove to do the Milford sound and it was a beautiful drive, which took about 2 hours both ways. There’s some lovely cafes and restaurants, gift shops and supermarkets. The bird sanctuary to se the Takahe was also a great stop.

I really enjoyed our stay in Te Anau. It's a beautiful town. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Great location to stay for a night or two if you are going to do the Milford track or do any of the attractions in the Milford Sound and surrounding area. I would definitely stay at the @Radford on the Lakeside. Lovely motel and very nice rooms. Have dinner at the Fat Duck (Lumina lamb dish was delicious). Breakfast and lunches at Sandfly. We also had a yummy lunch at Ditto.

Te Anau is perfect for a weekend break and is ideally situated to access Milford Sound. The drive to Milford is memorable even without taking a cruise, the cruise is well worth it. Te Anau has some good eating options, plentiful accommodation and some shops. Fuel is not expensive!

Perfect base to visit Milford Sound, with excellent restaurants, cafes and gift shops in town. We ate at the Fat Duck which was crowned best gastropub in all of New Zealand, and it was great. We also enjoyed eating at the The Ranch, and it was another fabulous meal. Definitely worth a couple of nights stay in Te Anau. Apart from Milford Sound we also enjoyed the Glow Worm Cave experience.

A small township with a lovely lake and a very good selection of eateries and shops. This location meant we could take an excellent (safe, comfortable, less tiring) coach and cruise day trip to Milford Sound which was not too long: we were picked up at about 9.30am and returned around 5.30. Others on the coach travelled for an extra two hours each way from Queenstown. A two night stay gave us time to wander through the town and along the beautiful lakefront. Check out The Ranch Bar and Grill for delicious baked dinners and other hearty well priced food. Also Black Dog Bar at the local theatre: cosy, comfortable, friendly staff and great cocktails.

Motel Owner was very helpful and accommodating. I had a great time in this motel and provide me with helpful tips to dine and attraction in Te Anau. In addition the kitchen equipment was complete and that allow us to prepare our dinner. Even the Parking is a reserved slot. I didn't know that Te Anau has so many more activities or else I would have stay longer and definitely it will be in Red Tussock Motel.

The motel is on the lakeside, very beautiful, and close to the town center (10 minutes by footwalk on the lakeside). The room is very cozy, very clean and big. It has a bathroom and an equipped kitchen. The beds are very comfortable. Parking lot in front of the room. Friendly staff. Great price/value. We really enjoyed our stay in Kea by the Lake. It is a small, quiet, motel-type place. The room. was small but comfortable. There is a lovely large shared kitchen area that is fully equipped and serves only a few rooms, and also a large living room. It is by Te Anau lake front (no views from the rooms), and is in walking distance of all the restaurants.
