Overlooking the Bay of Naples and with views of the Vesuvius volcano, Sorrento is a colourful town in Campania. According to the Greek legend, it was the land of the sirens that had the power to enchant with their singing.
The town of Sorrento has gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque architecture, and a big variety of restaurants, shops and cafés. Built around the 11th century, the Romanesque Cathedral of Sorrento is the city’s most important landmark. The charming Bell Tower with the beautiful majolica clock is the first thing that you will notice.
The picturesque harbour of Marina Grande has some of the best restaurants in the city. Wander around during sunset and you will see fishermen cleaning their nets. Marina Piccola is the place to get a ferry to Capri, Amalfi and Naples.
Born in a garden of lemon and oranges, the traditional yellow liquor of limoncello is a unique aperitif or digestive drink. The mediterranean climate of Sorrento helps in the production of this famous refreshment.

We were only in Sorrento for one night.
We were only in Sorrento for one night. I wish we could have stayed longer. We explored the heart of the town with it's beautiful shops, bars and restaurants. We had an early evening meal in a busy outdoor restaurant called Monallisa. Sergio and his staff are amazing. The food and drinks were really lovely. We walked down the cliff steps to have a drink at one of the beach bars. We only ordered one drink but sat for about an hour taking in the sunset and atmosphere. Again the staff were so welcoming. Bringing us free snacks with a smile. No pressure to order anything else. We took the lif back up to save our legs. We will come back to Sorrento I hope as 1 night is definitely not enough. Sorrento is a beautiful town full of wonderful people. The food is amazing, and it’s very easy to get to Naples as well as the stunning Amalfi Coast. we stayed in Sorrento for seven nights, i’ll plan to stay for four nights in Sorrento and go to Naples for three nights, but we loved it so much in Sorrento we decided to stay. A highlight was Pompeii and we had a boat trip. To Amalfi. The rest of the three nights we moved to a Mountain region, about 20 minutes from Sorrento city which is lovely.Guest review byHelen - 8.0

Sorrento can be difficult to fully enjoy. Beaches are far with little public transport, and public beaches feel out of reach. Nearby cities are not easy to access, and while renting a car is an option, parking is a real challenge. Sorrento is just a lovely place to stay. The hotel we stayed in was fabulous. Great facilities and only a 2 minute walk from the main square. The restaurants were all really good and serving a great selection of different foods. We felt very safe and loved walking around the streets at night after dinner. Sorrento was lovely especially down at the harbour area. Our hotel was deliberately chosen a little bit out of the town centre to ensure a peaceful, quiet stay.
