The kindness of the staff was the most important asset of the hotel. Everyone from the lady at the reception, the colleague who took away our car to park it, the gentleman who was serving at breakfast (and also brought our car from the parking) were really nice and helpful. I liked the smell inside the hotel, bed was comfortable, bathroom was new and fully functional and breakfast was surprisingly complete for Italy, everything to suit anyone’s taste. Location was top, near everything and also valet parking was very useful.

We enjoyed the variety that was offered for breakfast. The location was fantastic as we could walk from the train station and it was close to the funicular which we used to get up to the old town. The room was lovely and had all we needed. The owners were very helpful.

Orvieto is a beautiful, historic city on a high outcrop.

Orvieto is a beautiful, historic city on a high outcrop. There are some great restaurants, and interesting sites to see. We recommend Al Pozzo Etrusco Di Fabrizio Grilli for excellent local dishes. It's worth booking as it isn't very big. There's a walk around the bottom of the cliff - steep and gravelly in parts, but lovely views.

Orvieto is a hidden gem, especially if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Rome during peak season and the Jubilee. My husband and I really appreciated the brief respite from the Rome crowds and there were a number of interesting things to see in Orvieto including the underground caverns, the cathedral, and St. Patrick's well.

10 years ago, I drove by this city on a hill and thought that I'd like to visit it -- but my young children and spouse were not interested. Imagine my surprise when I decided to visit Orvieto based on a recommendation of an Italian I met in Chianti, and it was that same city on a hill. It looks like a fortress (and was indeed a fortress) as one passed by on the A1. Lots of history, plenty of places to eat and drink, plenty to do in a weekend here -- wish I could have stayed another night. It's a small village, people are friendly, and it is not totally ransacked by tourists. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe. I only stayed there one night and would have liked to have stayed and explored more -- another night or two. Although I am not religious, I am continuously astounded by the time, money, and effort it took to build the Duomo, and the frescoes and murals therein. I also appreciated the underground tour which provided a fascinating history of Orvieto and also respite from the hot sun in Italy in July. Orvieto is very walkable and charming.

    We thoroughly enjoyed Orvieto.

We thoroughly enjoyed Orvieto. Everything was within walking distance, fabulous cobbled streets steeped in amazing history. The Duomo is spectacular with plenty of small friendly bars and restaurants to enjoy the view from. We arranged an electric bike tour with dinner, well worth it to find out the history of the place. Would recommend a visit, 2 days is easily enough to see everything. Stunning scenery too.

Liked the historical aspects of the city.

Liked the historical aspects of the city. City has it's own unique character. There is a modest amount of tourism in Orvieto, but it is not "choked" by it as can be the case in the larger Italian venues. The views to the surrounding areas from atop the city are breathtaking.

Probably the most extraordinary of all my Tuscan Umbrian hill towns explored...with a contemporary sense of continuum, in a mostly medieval place, of winding narrow streets, small piazzas. and ancient churches: all nested high above in the sky, on it's tufa plateau. Amazing views down into the green valleys and vineyards. Etruscan necropolis below. Just to wander and sense time passing over the centuries...

The property is located in the Central Orvieto (Corso Cavour) which is very convenient to access to the main sightseeing spots, such as Duomo, the Underground or Moro Tower, restaurants and shops. It's also in the quiet residential area. The property is kept very clean with beatiful decor. The beds were very comfortable. The landlord was very supportive and always responded promptly. We very enjoyed our stay in Orvieto and wished we could stay little longer there.
