We stayed there only for two nights.
We stayed there only for two nights. We've been skiing in Madesimo and sleeping in Chiavenna. We didn't spend a lot of time there. We were just passing on our way to sankt moritz, and had to stay, because of a heavy rain. We found a last minute offer in Pianazzola, which is a small village above Chiavenna. That place was absolutely stunning. Old stone houses, beautiful views, magical atmosphere. Chiavenna is a picturesque town, which was apparently quite prosperous in medieval times, and many of the old buildings are well preserved. The mountain views are gorgeous. Our only regrets were that it rained throughout our day there, and we were unable to stay longer.Guest review byFredItaly

A renaissance, really. The rooms were modern, very clean and comfortable. You cannot find a better location to visit the center of Chiavenna or to access the beautiful hiking paths. The restaurant was serving delicious food, and I mean with a gourmet character at reasonable price. The Creamy Zucchini Soup was superb. Chiavenna town centre is only minutes walk away with bars, restaurants, shops, bus & train station. Continental breakfast was prepared by the landlady, homemade cakes, fresh bread rolls, coffee or tea, jam, cheese. There is a fully equipped kitchen should one wants to eat in.
