My wife and I are cycling in India. We had a fabulous stay at Gateway Bekal. We had a balcony room with a lovely view. Super clean and comfortable spacious room. Food at breakfast was excellent. Dinner buffet was excellent. A la carte menu is slightly expensive, but then it is the Taj group so we expect this. Staff everywhere were friendly, helpful and always professional, eager to please us, and responsive to every request we had - very impressive. The site is still being worked on - the spa, and bar are not working, and the Riverside walkway is not smooth. A short autorickshaw ride to Bekal Fort. Overall, a magnificent experience, which will be even better when the hotel is fully functional, and the extensive grounds have been nourished by one monsoon season.

River View Homestay is a great place to stay. It was the best experience staying in this River Front house. It is a traditional old Kerala style tiled house overlooking the beautiful river. The location is unbeatable with a beautiful view of Chithari river, surrounded with mangrove forests and coconut trees in a peaceful village. This place is very well maintained and breeze all time to house. Kitchen is available with cooking gas, stove with all utensils. We cooked food for 2 days and it was good experience. Owner gave the full itinerary to visit nearby places and we watched theyyam, Visited Bekal Fort, Red moon beach and Fishing in the river was the best experiences we had. This is very budget level homestay in entire Kasaragod. We stayed 2 nights and had almost relaxing trip. The warmth and hospitality was really something we are looking forward to visiting again. A perfect stay at a resort with access to expansive free movement areas including riverside and the beach connected to Arabian sea. Saw some stunning sunset, variety of flora and fauna a treat to our eyes and enriching our experience. The food tasted very good too. There are even more facilities that we did not even try on this visit and probably would try another time.

A property located in a quaint neighbourhood (very close to the highway yet so secluded and tucked). This will take you to your Granny's old village home in secs upon arrival. It is almost 5degs cooler inside vs outside vast compound (which initself is 2degs cooler than the general area out there). Equipped with a sufficient kitchen that provides your cooking needs. Lazing around in the evening outside the porch is a detoxing experience in itself. Its very close to the major attractions which we explored in our 2 day stay - Bekal fort (there was international beach festival as well), Chandragiri fort, Anandashram, Beaches (i counted atleast 5 pristine beaches around - chitharai being 2kms away)
