Merthyr is my home town but I moved away 45 years ago for work purposes. It is steeped in history and played a major part in the industrial revolution. Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park is neardby. Within easy reach are Cardiff, Swansea, Abergavenny and so on, so a great base to work from. If you are into mountain biking Bike Park Wales is based on the outskirts of Merthyr.

Didn't have the best rosin in the Brecon Beacons but we were pleasantly surprised. Great location for access to the Beacons on the less busy side. Nice Italian restaurant that we used both nights Casa Bianca and a great breakfast at Haystack cafe.

    * Comfy beds! Choice of soft or harder pillows. * Room size! Nice sized bed and a sofa. * Pool and Spa Facilities were great and ideal after a long day hiking. * Free use of robes and towels - at other spas these have been chargeable, so this was a nice addition. * Great food for breakfast and dinner - good dairy free options. * Friendly and accommodating staff throughout the hotel, including check-in, spa bookings, and waiting staff. * Ideal location for hiking Pen Y Fan. * Picturesque rural location.

Stayed here for a Bike Park Wales 2 day visit. Location is good - 10 mins drive from the bike park - about a 15 minute walk into Merthyr town for restaurants and drinks, but downhill at least! House itself was good for this type of trip - one secure parking space, bike storage, washing machine and kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. House was nice and warm despite freezing temperatures outside. Small convenience store 2 mins walks away. Would definitely stay here again.

A short drive to Bike Park Wales and good base for exploring the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) national park. Clean and comfortable mid terrace house in a residential area in the hills of the town. Not near bars or restaurants, very quiet. Ideal for outdoor activities if not here for the nightlife. Easy instructions to pick up the keys.
