Whether you’re climbing the iconic El Peñol rock for panoramic vistas, strolling through the vibrant streets adorned with ornate zócalos, or gliding across the serene lake on a boat tour, every moment in Guatapé is infused with charm. It’s a place that invites you to slow down, soak in the scenery, and feel genuinely connected to nature and local life. However, the only negative to say is that many roads are not paved, which is due to the government's and private conflicts, for such a tourist area is a shame to see that. Super great local lake getaway vibes. Guatape is beautiful and the food is 10/10. It’s the complete opposite of the city though so it depends on what vibe you are looking for. I definitely would recommend staying at the Brown’s if you are spending a night or two in Guatape. Being able to have food in the room if you prefer is nice and we loved having the bonfire on the terrace each night. The communication with staff re everything incl. meal orders etc via WhatsApp mostly worked well. We enjoyed the paddle boards and kayaks and also booked jetskis and paragliding through the hotel. The location is great, close to "Piedra del Penol" and the towns of Guatape and El Penol. The hotel offers water activities (with a fee) that were enjoyed by some members of our family and there is an area we could relax while waiting for the adventurous.
