So much to see. The day trips were packed and whistle-stop. I could have spent longer at most of the locations. Such a beautiful area. The breakfast in the garden was pleasant, with simple but delicious dishes. There was a very sophisticated souvenir shop cum cafe in the hotel, and an art gallery, both of which we enjoyed spending time in. The staff there are super helpful with all questions from directions to tours and getting taxis. I went on a tour organised by the hotel to key places outside of Dunhuang like yumen pass and ghost city. The tour is good value and a must do. We booked a private room for two.
