The hotel offers a high-quality, welcoming atmosphere, characterised by warm wood tones and muted colours, which create a cosy and homely ambiance. My room was spaciously designed and provided a breathtaking view of the mountains from the bed, as well as a picturesque view of greenery directly from the bathtub, allowing for moments of pure relaxation. The minibar was generously stocked and offered a delicious selection of snacks and drinks, with complimentary coffee, tea, and water provided by the hotel—a thoughtful touch that made the stay even more enjoyable. The spa area was equally tasteful in design, offering water, tea, and a small selection of nuts to encourage relaxation and unwinding. A perfect retreat for both body and mind! I opted for the half-board package and was thoroughly delighted. The breakfast left nothing to be desired, offering a wide variety that catered to every taste. The dinner was outstanding – beautifully presented and a true delight for the palate!

Everything was great, the town of Wagrain was delightful, and the Hotel Sonne is on a great location within a few minutes of the center. It is very easy to find with a car, has a lot of spacey parking places and is very beautiful. The host was great, and the check in / out was easy and fast. Rooms are clean, cosy and in Alpen/Wood/Cabin Style ... but spacious, clean and with everything you need. The balcony and the views are amazing. We had breakfast - which was very good, especially in the winter garden. The whole place is very quiet, peaceful, and great for relaxation.

The room is super spacious and we loved especially the huge wardrobe. Seating area in the room is also very nice. The hotel has nice and spacious ski and ski-boot rooms. Breakfast was really rich and good. Parking is a little tricky in the village centre, but the hotel has sorted that out neatly in the surroundings, we have always been able to park comfortably and the walk from the parking is short from all options.

    Gorgeous view of mountains, great place for nature-lovers, you can spend there some quality time both in winter & in summer. Hallstatt, Zell am See, Dachstein are only 1 hour drive from Wagrain. Be aware of toll roads & tunnels (above the motorway fee). If you are travelling with kids, they will enjoy the Hermann Maier Freizeitpark in Flachau (ca 15-20 mins drive from Wagrain). You should check out the opening schedule of supermarkets and restaurants, eg. after 9 PM, you might not find any open places or restaurants could have their own break days.

    Wagrain is all about skiing.

    Wagrain is all about skiing. If you don't ski, there isn't much to do around Wagrain. Swimming pool opens in the afternoon, so does the skate ring. If you have kids, there is no much other fun things to do. Most of the restaurants open at 5 pm. If your hotel doesn't offer lunch meals, you can only help yourself with snack from the two spar groceries in the village. The ski bus is great, it runs every 10 min. However, the streets are narrow and it may get quite tight, if you meet a bus while driving.

    Wagrain was a good base for many activities in a family...

    Wagrain was a good base for many activities in a family summer vacation: Super close: - Grafenberg - great views, a big playground for kids - Jaegersee - a lake with amazing view and a restaurant (I recommend the icecream). There is a short hiking trail around the lake and you can rent boats. - Flachau indoor waterpark - Not a must, but good for rainy days (can be very crowded) Up to 1h drive: - Salzburg - Lichtensteinklamm - Beautiful but very crowded - I recommend arriving right at opening time - Gosausee - Beautiful lake also with a hiking trail - Grollinger waterfall - Hallstatt - Very crowded so arrive early or don't bother.

    Small town but a good location for walks around. Also, close by car from other nice cities. The Wagrain card gives you some discounts. You can go to the warm pools for free, and these are great. Kids loved it

    Wagrain is amazing, there is much to do in the area.

    Wagrain is amazing, there is much to do in the area. Our stay at knappensteig was truly amazing. Thomas the owner is very available and the whole complex is amazing and very clean and comfortable. We Were there for 7 nights and we wanted to stay longer. It’s very close to the wasserwelt which the kids really enjoyed. We highly recommend this place.

    Anna's Sonnenquartier is an efficiently and lovingly run family-run property on the mountain overlooking Wagrain. The view is beautiful and a number of walks can be made straight from the lodge. The rooms were very clean and spacious, each with their own balcony. The breakfast was one of the best we have ever had in Austria. It was made with great attention for detail and very creative. The host Anna was very attentive and had many good tips about the area. We are already looking forward to the next time!

    I had a fantastic week at this guesthouse in Wagrain! The newly renovated apartment was modern, comfortable, and perfectly located between two cable car stations. The host was incredibly kind and helpful—she assisted us in getting a discounted ski pass and even provided a ski locker at the lower cable car station free of charge. Her hospitality made our stay even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place and would love to come back!

    Location - beautiful view of Wagrain and the ski slopes, Wagrain within 10 minutes by car and the rest of Ski Amadé within 20 minutes. Very clean and spacious apartment, three separate bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Perfectly equipped kitchen (stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker with coffee). Built-in drying racks for ski boots. Very nice owner.
