Illmitz is a great location for visiting the Neusiedler See National Park. It has a good choice of restaurants; our hotel (Hotel Post) did evening meals Thu-Sun, so we had a chance to try other restaurants on oher evenings (Heuriger Holzhammer Pusztascheune Illmitz, Antonios Hof). Before leaving we used the web site https://www.birdingplaces.eu/ which had good information on places to visit and what we might expect to see. The hotel itself also had a good booklet on local places to visit and wildlife and we bought an English language version.
