Close to a lot of nice cafes and shops.
Close to a lot of nice cafes and shops. The staff in the subway are pretty touchy, and you have to get the clipper card to use public transport. The area going away from the wharf is quite seedy, like an open-air opium den with drug users injecting in public. Some of the cafes included taxes of ~$30USD, bringing out breakfast for 2 to $85. Better to ask ahead. Expensive place overall.

Union Square is right in the heart of San Francisco with lawns, steps and trees. A perfect square amongst expensive hotels and Macy's store. Nice to sit and eat lunch and watch the passing parade. Also the cable car goes up the side street of Union Square.

It feels very run down and really scruffy.
It feels very run down and really scruffy. It’s not the best part of the city and there are so many vagrants which can feel very intimidating when they shout at you, I know it’s not their fault but it does become scary especially at night time.

We went for the pride parade.
We went for the pride parade. This was a very moving experience and I don't regret going. What was concerning is the security. I was nervous the whole time due to the crowds and lack of police visible.
It took over two hours in line to get into the actual celebration event.
This was a nightmare. Way too over crowded and unorganized. Not enough ways to get in and out. For an event this big there it should have been better planned for.

This location was excellent. Only 1/2 block from Union Square. All the restaurants and shopping were in easy walking distance and the cable car was right outside the front door.
The room was clean and the beds super comfortable. The staff in the hotel were excellent from the greeting at the front door to the reception staff and the Starlight lounge staff! It’s really nice to see people who like their job and are excellent at customer service. Wow everyone was amazingly nice! Thank you!
We were very happy with our room and the hotel facilities. Unusually we ate in the restaurant most evenings and were happy with the service and food.
The staff were great . Very helpful and understanding.
The location is good for Fishermans wharf, cable cars and buses direct to GG bridge or up to Union square
Directly at Union Square with close by Cable Car stop. Not as expensive as the big hotels. Good room size.
You can decide to keep the linen instead of changing them when they are still okay, good for the environment. (Please also do that with towels!)
I have stayed here many times. This is my go-to hotel when staying in San Francisco. It is centrally located. It is close to great areas, such as Union Square, China Town, North Beach, The Mission, Japan Town, and The Castro. The beds are super comfy and they have super nice showers. They also provide comfy bathrobes and LOTS of outlets. Their wifi works well.
Best stay in San Francisco. I travel once a year to SF and have stayed at pretty much every hotel. This is by far the best. It’s newly built, modern, clean and you can sleep at night with no noise which never happens in Union Square. The staff are amazing too and has a hip rooftop.
This is a nice hotel located near Union Square, Chinatown, and the Financial District. My room was clean and comfortable and a great size for San Francisco. The breakfast was better than expected. The staff were friendly and professional.
Hotel location was ideal for our San Francisco experience. Short walking distance to the pier and other sites of interest. A couple of blocks from the bus stops for easy transport to other locations such as North Beach, Chinatown and Union Square. $50 Uber ride from the airport (no hotel shuttle). Hotel staff extremely friendly and helpful with transportation and local sites/restaurants.
One of the best value hotels near near Union Square, it's a bit of a hike up the hill to get there but that's San Francisco for you! Rooms are small (but comfortable), toilet/shower facilities are shared but never encountered a queue and they were always clean.
The hotel also hosts the San Francisco Playhouse. Currently they’re showing a chorus line, which we went and saw. But they have shows throughout the year in the theater is an excellent place to visit if you’re staying near Union Square.
