The first room they put me in had (a) NO window (b) no cupboard/wardrobe or even a drawer to put any clothes in (c) no plug sockets aside from one right by the ceiling which I couldnt reach (d) no blanket (e) no wifi (f) broken cooker rings that didnt heat properly and (g) a kettle but nowhere to plug it in. However, the hostel is in a fabulous location (Calle Fuencarral, Gran Via end), and Madrid itself is just heaven.

It was in the center, on the famous Gran Via so walking distance everywhere. You have shops, restaurants, cafes nearby which was great. The room was quite spacious and the bed very comfortable. Keep in mind that this is more an apartment building instead of a hotel as there are no cleaning services. They provide you with extra towels and should you need extra toilet paper (for those staying more than a couple of days) you can always ask at the reception.
