It was a beautiful house in the middle of an old abandoned mountain village, which got beautifully restored for tourism. It was surrounded by nature and the forrest and it was like a little rest for the soul.

Casa da Latada is a family home with a modern exterior, where some original stone features have been preserved inside, giving the interior a lovely rustic touch. The house was built as a family residence rather than specifically designed for temporary accommodation, which gives the stay a wonderfully personal and welcoming feel :) The village atmosphere is phenomenal - the locals are friendly and welcoming, surrounded by mountains and valleys with streams running through, and the famous stone houses (some beautifully converted) scattered throughout. I highly recommend walking down to the stream behind the accommodation and following the trail to the right parallel to the water collection point - you'll come to a water mill and a small dam that looks like something straight out of a movie :) Practical notes: The internet coverage is poor in the village area, but inside the house you'll have good fast broadband connection. The air conditioning was definitely a plus during my summer stay. I imagine winters might get quite cold and damp in this region, which could potentially affect the interior of the house. I wholeheartedly recommend this accommodation. Although I didn't meet Liliana in person, she was extremely helpful and attentive to details, always ready to provide advice via message when possible, and clearly has a special attachment to the house :) Castanheira de Pera appears to be the main village, still just 10-15 minutes away by car, where you'll find the "Meu Super" and "Spar" supermarkets. It's probably the best place for breakfast as we particularly enjoyed "Fusão" for breakfast/brunch and "Gil" as a restaurant. There are certainly others, but we didn't have time to try everything.

    We were a family of 4 and we really enjoyed our stay. The villa was super clean and nicely decorated. The staff were friendly, attentive and they checked that we were ok which was nice. The views are lovely and it’s so peaceful. There are only 4 villas in the complex so there was plenty of space by the pool. Right in front of the villa there is a public natural beach river. It was fun to go in but super cold!

    Loved the view of the pool lake , palms lining the path , yachts , hillside surround , the quietness and the quaint location. next to the center of the village where everything is at hand ATM public open air gym, library , cultural park and center , cafes, supermarkets, restaurants, everything. You d find in a mini town The village at night and in weekend , in winter is very nice, friendly , safe and quiet.
