Train/subway stations were within walking distance and buses were easily accessible. Restaurants and convenience stores close by. Visited many Yokohama attractions. Ride to Central Tokyo and other locations (Ginza, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Setagaya) took some time, but it was manageable. Public spa was a plus.

The facilities were very clean and well maintained with lots of common areas to relax, the staff were very kind and accommodating, the hot spring bath was wonderful and relaxing, and the room was spacious with a breathtaking view of the mountains.

Very welcoming host who helped us get the most out of our time in Hakone. There are lockers to leave your suitcase if you arrive before check in, so you can get exploring. At check-in we were given a detailed map and advice on how to navigate around Hakone in the most efficient and interesting way - very easy to get around the surrounding area from Myojokan! We left at 8am on our full day there and saw everything we wanted to, while skipping lots of the crowds. Then in the evenings there is the private onsen bath, one for men and one for women, one person at a time to relax in, which was the perfect end to the day and we never had to wait. The Inn is traditional and was a delightful way to experience the local culture. Plus there's some very good restaurant options both nearby and a short train ride away, and a 7-11 just down the road. Easy to get to, easy to get around and very welcoming. Would recommend to anyone who is open to a more traditional experience and would definitely stay again, thank you! Oh, and we also definitely recommend getting the Hakone free pass! Local transport was more expensive than we thought, and it also helps you skip lines at the bigger tourist attractions not having to line up for tickets.

Featuring a garden, Hakone Onsen Yuyado Yamanoshou is set in Hakone, 200 metres from Hakone Botanical Garden of Wetlands. This 3-star ryokan features free WiFi. Really traditional ryokan with a nice onsen for private use, good traditional food, nice staff and located close to 2 bus stations. Also there is a family mart which is really good if you forgot to book dinner :)

Boasting an open-air hot spring bath and a garden, Mizunoto is situated a 22-minute drive away from Hakone Yumoto Station on the Odakyu Line and Lake Ashi. Room was spacious and clean, the in-room bath was big enough for two people, and they had more perks than I even remember seeing when booking, like free snacks scattered throughout the day, a drink bar, etc. Staff was very friendly, most spoke English, and even the shuttle drivers were energetic and made you feel like you were a special guest.

Masutomi Ryokan se nachází pouhých 5 minut chůze od vlakového nádraží Hakone Yumoto a nabízí venkovní termální lázně, prostorné pokoje a bezplatné Wi-Fi. Location was very convenient; about a 7 minute walk from Hakone-Yumoto station (which is just a 15-minute railway ride from Odawara station, where most patrons come from). Note that the shopping area in the immediate vicinity closes promptly at around 5pm so get your shopping in before you turn into the ryokan. Food was delicious, very filling and well-presented. Dinner was served punctually at 6pm and breakfast at 8am. Staff were phenomenal, especially the main innkeeper - despite not knowing much English, she was so kind and accommodating. For baths, there were so many options for a one-night stay, but all of the ones I experienced were great, especially the private rooftop one (which costs extra, keep in mind); I imagine it might be a bit uncomfortable for taller people though, the bath on the roof is not very big. The room itself was great - spacious and the futons were so soft and comfortable. The ensuite bathroom was very clean and well-equipped.
