How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location is nice and Ideal.
The reception is in the kitchen no privacy at all. The bathrooms are dented and out dated. They are no longer getting clean. The bathroom floors are very bad near the toilet seat.

Verified reviewThe lodge was a fair distance from the centre but close enough to the Victoria Falls. The room was ideal and cozy with a beautiful bed, so the night was very comfortable. Great that they also had a mosquito net which was an added bonus. The shower was delightful and the towel was clean and not stained. The room had a desk overlooking the lodge entrance and had a tv
The fact that there are no facilities at the lodge was a big issue. For example, no breakfast, no wi fi, no vending machines for snacks. If you did not have data on a phone it would be hard to book a taxi as the person on duty did not have a taxi app on his phone. The TV channel was determined by what the duty person was watching which was annoying. Although they provided a kettle there was no spoon and no beverage e.g. tea or coffee or sugar

Verified reviewThe location was great, close to the city and major attractions by car. If you’re visiting in June or July, elephants will be roaming the areas and it’s unsafe to walk. However Yango taxi works on the area and have good and dependable fares.
The internet was too slow.

Verified reviewIt’s okay for what they ask, the staff is really nice and helpful, and they voluntarily moved me to a better room on my second night when it became available.
I was first placed in a damp room outside the main building, was full of mosquitos and bugs and very dirty, the guy at the reception did his best to fight them off but in the end I went to sleep in a room full of dead bugs all over. The location is pretty far from town and you can’t access it by foot because the roads aren’t safe, which means you’ll also be spending more on taxis, something to consider when you want to save.

Verified reviewThe room was. Lean and neat
There was no internet when I stayed there. Since I just arrived, I had no way of communicating with my family and friends. Also, the location was bad, it was too far from town and the falls. The place is inside a national park where wild animals roam, which made it tough to get food and no internet to call a taxi.
We apologize for the internet inconvenience caused!!! Our Fiber Network connection cables were stolen by criminals and the internet provider is working on the problem which has been resolved as of today!

Verified reviewI had a great stay at this lodge in Livingstone. I arrived later than expected after taking the bus from Lusaka, but the owner was very flexible with my arrival time, which I really appreciated. Even though it was already dark, the lodge was easy to find thanks to the clear signage at the entrance. The property is peaceful and surrounded by lush plants, which made it feel like a little oasis. At night, I could hear the crickets and absolutely no other noise—it was wonderfully quiet. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, with both a fan and air conditioning, plus a mosquito net over the bed (though I didn’t see any mosquitos in the room). I didn’t end up using the air conditioning because the windows were screened from the outside and couldn’t be closed from the inside, but with the fan on and the mild May weather, the room stayed very comfortable at night. The price was extremely reasonable for what you get. I also appreciated having an electric kettle and mini fridge in the room—small touches that made my stay even more convenient. One thing to note: the WiFi signal in my room was not very strong, and I also had weak MTN cell service in that area. I was able to send messages without issue, but video calls were difficult from the room. While the lodge is a bit outside of town, it was easy to get around using Yango, and they also offer a private car service if you need help getting into town. The staff were polite and quick to respond to anything I needed. One small tip: bring small bills, as they may not always have change for larger cash payments. Overall, I would definitely stay here again—especially if you're looking for a quiet and relaxing place to stay while visiting Livingstone.
