How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe house (a true Manor) is very well located with great views of the lagoon/estuary and the surrounding forests. It is also nicely decorated with beautiful paintings from local artists. The site is big and very well maintained with nice lawns, flowers and vegetables. The room was very comfortable, well decorated and great space. Breakfast was very good with ample choice (Thank you Happy). Our hosts treated us like extended family, and we really felt like at home.

Verified reviewWe really loved our stay at Hudson Manor . The views were breathtaking and the accommodation was perfect for a family , it felt luxurious but also homely . Our rooms were beautifully decorated and very spacious. I’m a coffee person so really appreciated the coffee station with rusks in our room .Our toddler loved the play area and interacting with Emily the resident dog . The breakfast spread was super fresh and delicious and the staff were so warm ,welcoming and eager to please.

Verified reviewThe location was lovely and we received a warm welcome. The rooms and bathroom are spacious. Great and ever smiling service from Brian till the end.
Our linen and towels were not changed for the duration of the stay. Our room was not cleaned on the Sunday and when we called the host to enquire, received a very cold response, when we called back to ask for clean towels, was hung up on and a heap of towels brought, even with a dirty one. The breakfast does not have variety.
Thank you for your review. I see that you stayed at Hudson Manor over the Easter weekend. We apologise for the bad experience that you had. It was not intended. We pride ourselves on staff interactions and cleanliness and will review your experience with the staff concerned. This is the very first such negative review in all our years of trading. I wish to point out that we change linen and towels every third day to save the planet. This should have been communicated to you on check-in and is standard practice in most hotels and guesthouses. I see that on Easter Sunday there was no turndown service of the room as our staff attended church services on this most holly of days. Hudson Manor is a boutique Bed n Breakfast establishment with a small but dedicated team but there is no excuse for rudeness and I am sure that none was intended when the phone died on your call to enquire about towels. I do take exception to your comment about the breakfast because I know that every day there are a variety of 6 cereals, 3 jams, 2 different breads, cheeses, sausages (pork & beef or chicken), eggs done multiple ways, two options of fruit juices, three different coffee options, 6 different tea options, hot chocolate, two yogurt options, raw and refined honey, two options of milk etc. Please try some of our competitors and do compare their service to your experience at Hudson Manor.
