Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe property is about 5 km from Road Town up a steep hill. There is no way you can walk it you need transport. You can take expensive taxis or try to hitch a ride but there is a lot of competition. I rented a car and the cost car plus hotel was cheaper than properties in Road Town or elsewhere on the island.
everything was good

U.S. Virgin IslandsIt was far from town but the appeal was that it was a tranquil spot.
My apartment was very comfortable and the view was spectacular. Lucian was a very accommodating host and drove me down into Road Town for supplies and ferry drop off for day trips to the other British Virgin Islands and other beaches on Tortola. Although he is running a business so I did pay money for this transportation. But still I enjoyed our conversation regarding various topics. It was an affordable location as a base for day trips to the other islands.

United KingdomIt was isolated without hiring a car or a taxi. Cost of taxi was a quite high. Nowhere to eat out in the area.
The view from the rooftop was great. The suite was comfortable and spacious. The area was quite and away from everything. There was plenty of opportunity to walk out and about in the area. There were no irritating insects.

United StatesI was very disappointed with the location. It was very remote, which was a $45 taxi ride from the airport! Not an area you could walk around in either. NOTHING nearby and very skinny streets. There were 3 locked rooms adjoining the kitchen and a hallway to the balcony. Also, the room was extremely small. No A/C, no water, no ice, no nothing. Crappy kitchen. Fridge froze my fruit. It looked clean, but if you looked around, it was not; just wiped down. Bare essentials. Bed, 1 blanket, towels, TP. Cheap and poorly decorated. Kind of dirty. No amenities. Not a place to sit around inside either. The chairs on the balcony were uncomfortable and so low, you couldn't see anything. I would not recommend this place!
If you stood on the back balcony you could see the ocean view.

United StatesOur stay was wonderful.
Lucian was the best vacation rental host we've ever encountered in our many years of traveling. He ensured we had everything we needed from clean towels to a lantern when the island temporarily lost power. The apartment we originally rented was being remodeled by the time we arrived so he relocated us to a newly remodeled one that was even better. The location of the apartment building was perfect with an incredible view. He also gave us a brief history of the island that could only be told by a generational Tortolan. We simply cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay there and will not stay at any other property when we return.

CanadaThe rate on Booking.com listed it as being being one rate for "up to two people" but we were charged an extra $40 USD for my spouse upon arrival. The listing also showed that there was an airport shuttle but this wasn't true and it cost $50 USD to take a cab there. Plus, once there, it was on the top of the hill, far away from town with no way to walk anywhere for provisions or meals so we had to rent a car to for another $60 USD to get anywhere. Add to that the extra $150 in other fees, you might as well stay at a more expensive hotel that has amenities. Had to check in using a door code but the code given to us was incorrect and we had to wait until someone showed up to let us in. I would never stay there again. The only highlight was that the host's brother-in-law, Tony, was an upstanding guy who helped us out. The host himself, Lucien, was terrible to deal with. Oh, and the mirror on the ceiling above the bed was unbelievable.

BulgariaThe property is perched on a high hill. Thus, the views from the top of one of the units are gorgeous. Amazing sunsets. The property is between two cozy beaches on one side of the island and the capital town on the other side of the island. You can walk down to both sides (around 40 minutes descending down) and you can take a taxi back up for around USD20. The host is very kind and helpful. The taxi from the airport costs USD50. I don’t recommend the hostel part of the property as it is shabby and old. But all the other single units have been recently renovated. There are no groceries or shops or eateries nearby - only at the aforementioned beaches or in the capital town.
