How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewVery welcoming and knowledgeable staff, offering quality wines and food. Rooms were beautiful and spotless clean. Generous breakfast served in the room. Its the perfect location to stay while exploring Carmelos winery circuit. We will come back in the summer to enjoy the pool area!

Verified reviewSuper comfortable bed and good size room. Lots of friendly dogs around (some owned by the family, others come in from the street). Amazing restaurant in Carmelo called Nido - sensational food, great prices and wonderful staff.
Outrageously expensive (and more than twice the price our nights in Punta del Este, Montevideo and Buenos Aires) - very poor value for money. Breakfast was basic with supermarket bread (delivered to your room at 5pm the night before). Staff were extremely disengaged. We asked what restaurants were open and they said they would bring a list to our room - this didn’t happen. We asked for toilet paper as it wasn’t replenished and it didn’t come (so my husband had to go and ask again). And both male and female staff walk past your windows and peer into the glass windows (from less than a metre away) - like a peeping Tom -not private or respectful. Construction is on the site (diggers) and starts at 8am and goes all day (together with the mowing).

Verified reviewThe room was very modern with an upscale feel. The bed was comfortable with lovely linens and the bathroom was spacious and clean with big fluffy towels. The small kitchenette area was perfect for preparing coffee or tea as well as the breakfast provided. We enjoyed the covered outdoor sitting area. When we arrived we were fortunate to meet the entire family, Mom and her 3 sons. All were very welcoming and kind. It was Juan, the youngest who could speak English so he was our guide. He was very knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed learning the history and legacy of this family bodega. We had the tour, tasting with charcuterie, and the lunch. It was all very good but too much food. We suggest having one or the other.
The first hour and a half or so after we arrived, the lawns immediately adjacent to the building were being mowed and trimmed. It was very noisy. We got away from the noise by going for a swim but found the pool had a lot of floating grass in it. The only negative but it did seem that doing the lawns at check-in time on a Friday was avoidable.

Verified reviewBe careful when booking with this accommodation. The owner invited us to a party at the accommodation. There was no discussion about the costs in advance. Later I saw on my credit card bill that the owner had charged $190 to our credit card for this party. This was never discussed and we never saw a bill. So the owner of the accommodation made unauthorized use of our credit card that we had given as collateral for this booking via booking.com. We thought he invited us because of the noise pollution that this party caused. Other guests we contacted did not see a bill for this because they had booked through a travel agency. And therefore did not pay anything. We spoke to these guests via WhatsApp. After a lot of WhatsApp traffic with the accommodation and repeated requests for a bill or telephone consultation, I have not received anything to date.

Verified reviewLovely lodge in rural farm setting. Peaceful with lots of birds chirping about. Room was lovely and spacious. Breakfast was continental style brought to our room in the evening, which allowed us the comfort of eating in our own room on our own schedule.Plenty of food. Very friendly staff.
The lodge did say that they had bikes for use, which they did but they were not in good shape. Brakes not working properly, seats broken or unable to be adjusted. Would have been wonderful if they actually had a few gears on the bikes too but they were one gear only.

Verified reviewAbsolutely amazing experience! The room was tastefully designed, spacious, and well equipped. The setting was serene and relaxing. We loved being located on the vineyard and able to walk the grounds. The provided bicycles were great so we could explore Carmelo a little more. All the staff and El Legado family members we super warm, friendly, and kind. We would make another trip to Uruguay just to visit El Legado! We had such an amazing time. Thank you!!

Verified reviewWe spent three wonderful days in the El Legado wine lodge. The bodega rightly calls itself a boutique wine lodge. Only 14,000 bottles are produced per hectare each year, of the Tannat, Syrah and a blend of the first two varieties. The guest house has four very spacious and modern rooms, with seating on both sides. The newly built swimming pool with comfortable loungers around the pool in the middle of the vines deserves special mention. The staff also deserves special mention, who are always friendly and helpful. Federico, the manager of the complex, looked after us with humor and a lot of knowledge. He showed us around the wine cellar and the rest of the complex. The highlight of the stay was the wine tasting with a wonderful platter of delicacies. The whole thing was only surpassed by the asado. A selection of meat that is second to none was served to us right by the fireplace.

Verified reviewWonderfully spacious and private rooms overlooking vineyards and fields. The winery is beautiful and the wines and food excellent. We had a lovely breakfast delivered to our room to enjoy at our leisure, we borrowed bikes and cycled to local bodegas and returned for an amazing wine tasting and late lunch at El Legado. Fabulous experience!

Verified reviewThe location is perfect if you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy the wonderful views. Me and my mom really enjoyed biking around with the bikes provided by the hotel. The rooms are big and have a good structure. The breakfast is brought to the room the day before, and it was really good.
As the breakfast is brought to the room, there could be a table with chairs that are more comfortable eating in. My father has some limitations and for him was complicated eating in the low chair and table.

Verified reviewThis is an excellent base from which to explore the area. We didn’t make much use of the properties catering/winetasting. But this was because we enjoyed our time exploring the local area.
