Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

UruguayThe bed had two mattresses insted a big one that culd fit the bed frame, this was very uncomfortable. The pool was dirty in som areas, specifically at the entrance where you could see the dust. When we got to the room it was also dirty, like they haven't vacuumed the place correctly. There were hairballs.
The pool temperature was ok, as well as the hidromassage space. The breackfast was good, with plenty options. I would suggest including some scrambled eggs or something like that (there was a lot of floured based food). Location is the best, centric and beautiful.

United StatesWe had 3 beds, 2 were fine, but one has bend in the middle and very hard mattress. Did not have a hair dryer in the room. The breakfast did not have anything warm ( scramble egs, hot cakes, sausage...).
We loved the location, and the fact that our room had a key to an outside door directly to the beach. The sweet breads of the breakfast were great, and the coffeee too. Friendly staff, and clean breakfast room. The antique and preservation of the building is beautiful.

UruguayI could hardly sit on the toilet or get up from it. The air in the room was unpleasant and there was no real way to get fresh air into it. The breakfast starts very late (8:00 a.m.) and they won't let you start even a minute early. When we arrived one person at the reception was not doing anything and the other was busy on the phone, so we waited for quite a while unnecessarily. Unlike the other staff these ladies did not come across as service oriented.
ambiente of building but not of the room, the breakfast, the locations and the relative quiet,

Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely lounge to sit and watch the world go by. Nice outdoor terrace. Indoor pool for when it rains. Nice location for beach and restaurants, however if you cross the road, turn left and walk along promenade you will come to a fantastic restaurant Drakar (10 min walk).

IrelandThe room we had was quite small, however there was a balcony which was nice. The check out time of 10am isn’t my favourite thing ever, so beware of this if you like a lie in.
The location is great for a night or two in Piriapolis. The hotel itself is an old building with lots of character and an underground pool. The breakfast is adequate but has a lovely view of the marina on a good day. The staff were very friendly when we stayed.

United KingdomThe internet dropped frequently and lacked consistency and strength, which affected phone calls using Whatsapp. The hotel shows signs of wear and tear but the quaintness and location compensate. Breakfast could use some variety.
Heated pool, although the temperature varied somewhat. The hotel's value lies in its age/history and charm. This has to be weighed against the better functionality of more modern hotels.

UruguayThe breakfast was generous and delicious. The pool was wonderful (water at around 30 degrees, just warm enough). The heating was on at the whole property (including a very nice lounge with a view to the beach and a working fireplace next to the lobby). The room was somewhat small, but acceptable for the rate and understandable since this is a historical building. Lots of art and original architecture/décor details around the building. Attentive staff.

CanadaOther than the historical facade, the property was obviously declining and in need of significant restoration and rehabilitation. Perhaps this financial position is beyond the current owners, but the need is obvious. From decoration to linen, from furniture to plumbing, it is outdated and ageing beyond any "historical" excuse; it is a one star property living on its good looks. And, for guests with any mobility issues, it is hopeless. We checked out after two days, forfeiting two further nights. The room we had been assigned was extremely difficult to access (for me) due to the stairs, and the only other option was a curious room than opened directly onto the main street and had security bars that looked much like prison bars. Not inviting at all. And so; I would not book the hotel again. I like old properties, but not at the expense of comfort. The rooms were tiny - this we knew - but it seemed as if they wanted to fill them with the maximum amount of furniture possible leaving little space to manoeuvre. The bathroom was clean, but so filled with bits and pieces that there was little room for our toothpaste. Clearly there had been no professional consultation of "how to maximise the space in a tiny hotel room" before decisions were made. It is a pity. The property is historical, iconic and should be a jewel in Piriapolis' crown. Instead it is a tired old hotel, living on its former glories. A pity.
The property's historical pedigree and unusual facade intrigued us and were the primary factors in booking (and prepaying) a four night stay in the high season. It is a beautiful looking hotel, and the staff were all friendly and welcoming.
