Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesI received the self check in instructions morning off after I had already began my journey as my flight to Albany was at 5:29am. Nobody was there to greet me upon arrival but I was able to call and get my code updated start time for a 1p arrival, thankfully.
Cozy for Christmas. Next to lovely park and downtown campus. Walkable to downtown and Lark St eateries. Lovely complimentary breakfast pastries, fruit and coffee and tea. My room H1 had nice furnishings. Lovely Lovely property! The lounge opened in the evening but I didn't get to spend time there. It looked nice also. I would stay again and would recommend.

United StatesCould have been greeted better when we arrived. Took 3 tries to get us in room that had been cleaned and had a functioning toilet. Tub of dirty dishes in the self-serve kitchen even though we were the only guests at that time.
Breakfast was adequate. The house was very nice and spacious. Free parking.

United StatesCheck in was very unusual. I was provided with a key code for the front door and given directions to find my room, no key just the key code to enter my room. The key code did not open the front door, no one was as the front desk. A guest happened to be in the area and opened the door for me. The key code did not open the door to the room. I wandered around the first floor and finally found a person to help me, she provided me with a real key. This person and every other staff member I met was very gracious, helpful, cheerful and I wish them much success running this hotel. They need to be more organized, I think things will improve.
The remodeled mansion was beautifully done and is a delightful place to stay for someone who does not want the cookie cutter hotel room of the big chains. Free parking was abundant and the location is extremely convenient for State buildings, SUNY and tourist attractions.

United StatesI think it wasn't clear that there was a communal kitchen or what the exact set up was. I think they may have been short staffed when I got there so I may have missed the introduction to the hotel cause there wasn't a front desk person and I went straight to my room.
I liked the bed and the bathroom. The mattress was very comfortable.

United StatesOnly issue was no sound isolation, big gaps under doors so we could hear everything from the very early am
location, safety of the area, walkable spot with lots to see and big park nearby.

The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Great location next to the park and walking distance to restaurants and cafes. The lounge and cocktail area is beautiful and the cocktails are excellent. Rooms could use a little updating. Love that they are pet friendly

United StatesThere was a major problem with the “Booking” website. I was able to book a room that was “blocked” by the owner. The property is a historic building and the owner is a wonderful hostess. She worked diligently to correct the problem with the Booking website to get us credit. Will definitely stay there if in the Albany area in the future but will book directly with the property not thru Booking.com.

United StatesVery expensive for a self check-in property with almost no amenities. Staff are rarely on premises, the cocktail bar was not open when I checked in or returned for the night, there was no food available for purchase and no toothpaste in the hotel room.
The property and location are beautiful and the manager was very nice when she was there.

United Statesit’s an old building so no A/C but couldn’t open windows so even though you could request a fan, maybe having one in the room would be better (we got hot after midnight & didn’t want to bother anyone)

United StatesThe rooms are very small and basic. Also, I am not sure why the door to our room was wide open when we arrived, as a result, we got eaten alive by mosquitos while we slept.
I found our room to be spotlessly clean. The building is charming and the breakfast room was cute and cozy to hang out in.

United StatesI had sent an email prior to our stay asking if there was anything we might need to bring w/ us. Being a "boutique" type hotel, I worried we might need to bring our own towels, tp, that sort of thing (that has been mu experience w/ this type of place in the past). The email went unanswered, though I did get several "boilerplate" emails prior to our stay re: door codes, parking, etc. Luckily, everything we needed was provided. Additionally, when we were not immediately greeted. Again, this is typical for a boutique hotel, and we had all the codes & directions we needed to get in, so we headed to our room. The room was open & dirty. When we went back downstairs to inquire, Matt one of the owners explained that due to a housekeeping call-out, that room was unavailable. But they had upgraded us to a suite because of it, which was stunning. Just wish we had been notified before arrival of the change.
The property was beautiful. We stayed during winter, and the warm feel of the hotel was a perfect compliment. Beautiful woodwork & cozy bar w/ fireplace. The owners, particularly Matt, were great. And if you're an Old Fashioned or expresso martini lover, he mixes some of the best we've ever had. Matt was very knowledgeable about the property & city as well. We're locals & even we learned something! We could easily walk anywhere - the property sits right on Washington Park by the bridge & playhouse. And the street it's on is very quiet, so even though our suite was @ the front of the house, we had no noise. We were very content to spend the weekend here.

SwitzerlandThe public areas were not clean, the arrangements (especially breakfast) arranged with no love. The pictures deceive. Very poor cost benefit ratio. I would expect more from a 4 star accommodation.
