The road which ran alongside it was quite busy therefore the sound of traffic was pretty disturbing. Also, the sound of fellow guests talking loudly outside, and quite late into the night was disturbing. Thankfully I had my ear-plugs.

The airconditioning made a lot of noise, it kept me awake at night. And the bed was a bit hard for me to sleep on, but I took that into account for the low price I paid.. The rooms were already under reconstruction: its gonna be a motel with only private rooms in the future . With a new pool.!

The location: I could walk to all the highlights! And the reception desk was open 24/7 and always helpful. I hadnt been in a youth hostel for 30 years, but I was lucky that during my four nights, for only 2 nights I had 1 roommate in my Womens dorm for 6 persons. So I had a lot of privacy.

The site is going through modernisation but we were warned about this, the windows to the room have no insulation for noise so you do hear a lot of traffic noise from south street.

The room had no windows, and the walls are very thin. I was disturbed by the neighbors, who were noisy until around 1 a.m. and then awake again around 5 a.m. Additionally, they smoked just outside their room, and the smell of smoke came into mine, which was very unpleasant.

As above, the construction noise was atrocious. You couldn't be in your room at all for the entire day, and it also started earlier than they said. I honestly don't think they should be renting rooms out, at least not at that price, while this is going on. The dorm bed (in a 10 person dorm) cost me $100 per night, which is absolutely insane given none of the facilities were available (no common areas at all) and there was constant noise to the point you couldn't use the room except to sleep. That's the most I've ever paid for a dorm bed in my life, and I have stayed in a lot of dorms. Would also suggest some lockers in the dorms - there was nowhere to put valuables or even anywhere to store bags, which was unusual.

I feel so conflicted about this review! On the one hand the dorm was good - curtains on the beds, plugs, fans and lights by the beds, nice height between lower and upper bunk so you can sit up properly. Location was good and staff were lovely. Very clean. Even little toiletries in the bathroom, which is unusual for a hostel. However, this was all overshadowed by the construction noise. I hadn't realised this was happening when I booked, and later saw that it was going to be from 9-5 everyday. It wasn't, it was 8-5, and it wasn't just a bit of hammering and sawing, it was jackhammers drilling up concrete alllll day. This also meant there was no kitchen, which I also hadn't realised when booking. I would have been happier with the stay if the price was at least half of what it was and there was more notice about the construction, and that they actually stuck to the times they were meant to be working.

A Spartan hostel. No food, coffee, tea, or cabinets to store some. One small (1.5 cubic foot) for ten beds. No kitchen. No microwave. No sitting or dining rooms. Very small bedrooms.
