Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Met Johnathan on arrival and had a great intro to property, local area restaurants etc. Our room was in a different building but we had key to access main building for breakfast. Loved the room it was spacious, clean and very comfy. The area was quiet and we felt very safe. Great stay would love to come back again one day.

Beautiful old property. Well appointed cozy room with a small kitchenette. Close to the avenue with all the restaurants but far enough to not have any noise. Very accommodating host.

United StatesThis is such a charming Inn! The hosts were welcoming, the common space was lovely, and I loved discovering that it was the long-time home of Alice Morgan Wright, a sculptor and suffragette. The neighborhood by the park and State Street was charming, and I got a great dinner recommendation at a local place. The room was comfortable, spacious, and well-appointed. This was a quick one-night stay in the middle of a train trip to Montreal -- but I wished I could have stayed longer! I will definitely stay here again the next time I am in Albany.

United StatesRoom in annex was lovely but a few of the items were a bit worn. For example, pillows were flat and needed to be replaced. Bathrobe in closet was frayed.
Beautiful historic building - both main building and annex. Easy parking in a secure lot. Very good breakfast. Great location.

It was very cozy and beautiful. The location was close to some good night life as well which was great!

IrelandNot much, no aircon in the room, just a fan in the ceiling, but not a problem in April and kept us cool. Surrounding streets at night seemed a little sketchy to me, but I'm not used to American cities, so maybe it was just me. Nothing to do with hotel
Loved the building, and the host was excellent

United KingdomInstructions on where to park need to be sent earlier- we didn’t get them until we arrived because we were driving as they were sent. As this was also intended to warn us of the crazy traffic due to the festival, it didn’t exactly help.
Great location opposite the park and within easy walking distance of the main plaza. I’m glad we booked a parking spot as the tulip festival was on, and the traffic was literally bumper-to-bumper. Property was stylishly period, with solid furniture and proper crockery, and breakfast was beautifully served.

United StatesNo fault AT ALL to the Morgan State House (I mean you are in a historic home) but, be prepared if you book the artist studio on the 4th floor, to walk 4 flights of stairs. They are very honest about this in the booking, so if you struggle with stairs, choose a room on the 2nd floor.
Staff, John, Amanda and Chuck were amazing. Very professional and offered advice about where to eat. Loved being in a historic house. Everything we went to was in walking distance (The Egg and restaurants). We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again for the next show at the Egg.

The very charming and relaxing house, with tasteful furniture and plenty of common areas to enjoy. The location, walking distance from many places where to eat and just in front of a park. The spacious room and bathroom, old style but with all what was needed to be functional. The availability of a secure parking area, at the moderate fee of 10$/night. The kindness and warmth of the owners/managers, Chuck and Janine, always ready to get out of their way to help.

United StatesBetter value for a couple, and perhaps longer stay, given the efficiency kitchen, comfortable armchairs, and lovely living/room in main building, 393 State Street, which I had no time to really use.
Room in architectural landmarked building, (my room was in Morgan State House Annex, 399 State Street), with beautifully appointed furniture, and gorgeous wall hangings, carpet, and plenty of drawer and closet space. Television, radiator, ceiling fan, radio, sound machine (who knew?) all in great working order. Bedding lovely, bed quite comfortable, and bathroom clean and neat.

United StatesThe House is exactly as described. I wanted a room with a king bed- we got a beautiful room on the top floor. Be aware there are 4 floors and there is no elevator. The staff accommodated us by keeping our luggage downstairs. The breakfast was just right, with great coffee. Yogurt, all kinds of bread choices, pastries, juice, cereal. Thank you Chuck. We loved eating at Roberto's.. get a reservation there if you can.

United StatesThe only part of the stay that was not lovely was that both mornings that I stayed, I had planned to sleep in till around 9am but it was impossible because starting at 6:30am thee were other guests downstairs having a rollicking time talking and laughing with each other and the morning staff. Perhaps they were trying to be quiet but the sounds echo loudly through such an old home. In any case, the group was so loud, and kept it up for so long, that both mornings their noise woke me up and kept me up. So, if you do stay at this Inn and plan to sleep past 7am I would highly recommend packing some ear plugs. Otherwise, everything was five stars.
The Morgan State House Inn is a beautiful gem in the heart of downtown Albany. The inn is lovingly kept, with mahogany floors and stairs, decorated thoughtfully, and a warm and welcoming staff. The rooms are stunning. I especially loved the suite I stayed in which had its own private library off of the bedroom, in addition to a small dressing room off of the bathroom. The bed and bedding were luxuriously comfortable. Continental breakfast was simple and self serve but perfectly fine (coffee, tea, muffins, cereal). A lovely place to stay if in Albany for business, and would also make a perfect romantic getaway stay location.
