How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNice facilities, especially the sauna and ping pong table.
Some of the parasols are in bad shape. The place could use a bit of an updating with some fresh paint. The faucet in the bathroom barely spits out water.

Verified reviewLoved how quiet and secluded it was compared to the other rowdy hotels in Palm Springs
There were a little bit of ants walking along the bathroom sink and the Neosporin in the emergency kit expired 3 years ago.

We apologize for the ants in the bathroom and the expired Neosporin in the emergency kit, we’re addressing these issues to ensure a better experience for future guests. We appreciate your feedback!

Verified reviewLoved that most of the original facade was there. True vintage charm!
It was a little rough around the edges, but nothing too bad. Wish it was closer to more restaurants to be able to walk places. But that’s not the property’s fault
Hi Leigh. Thank you for your kind words about the vintage charm and original facade, we’re glad you appreciated that! We also appreciate your understanding regarding the location. We’re always looking for ways to improve and hope to host you again soon!

Verified reviewLocation is ok, but not ideal. General grounds seemed good, and room was decent enough. Avant team members were very responsive to my outreach and concerns about my room.
The reason for this low rating is NOT due to the property itself, but rather the inaccurate description provided by Booking.com (NOT the properties fault), which, on its site described the space as a 777 sq ft 1 bedroom apartment with a private pool. I willing paid a premium price for this space given the description, however when I arrived at the property I was placed in room 14. A very standard hotel room, probably closer to 225 square feet. I called Avant and they were very responsive but indicated they don't have any rooms that are 777 square feet, and none of the rooms have a "private pool". Fortunately, they were willing to cancel my booking and a moved to another hotel at a lower price, with a larger room.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Les. We’re glad to hear our team was responsive and attentive to your concerns during your stay. We sincerely apologize for the confusion caused by the inaccurate description regarding the room size and private pool. We understand how disappointing this must have been, especially given the premium price you paid. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we are working closely with Booking.com to ensure the listings are updated and accurate to prevent this from happening in the future. Thank you again for your understanding.

Verified reviewThe location of the hotel is excellent-quiet and off the tourist paths but yet in town and close to everything. Also it was very easy to get to the freeway. There are not so many rooms at the hotel, so there were few guests and the atmosphere was very peaceful. The bed was comfortable and I especially liked big windows. Small kitchenette is also a plus. There is a sauna on premises.
There was a feeling of neglect. The bath was clogged with somebody’s hair that was gross, out of 3 light bulbs over the mirror only 1 was working, distasteful images on the wall. Small things that lowered the quality. But the major disappointment was completely misleading description of the room. It was advertised as a room with a special feature-private pool. But the pool was just one for all rooms, like in many other hotels in Palm Springs. Also the bathtub that was presented in the description is an extremely shallow one, more like a shower base, not usable as a tub. I chose the hotel for the private pool and the bathtub and agreed for the price because of that features, but there were absent. So the price seemed as unreasonable high.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback, Natalia. We’re glad you appreciated the excellent location, peaceful atmosphere, comfortable bed, and the sauna on the premises. We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered, including the clogged bath, lighting problems, and the décor that didn’t meet your expectations. We’re also sorry for any confusion caused by the room description regarding the pool and bathtub features. Your concerns are important to us, and we are actively working to address these matters to improve guest experience and accuracy in our listings. Thank you again for your valuable input, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future with a better experience.

Verified reviewA lovely complex that made it feel less like a hotel. And I was pleasantly surprised to see Tesla chargers in the parking lot.
The bed was a little too hard.
Thank you for your kind review, Jeff! We’re glad you enjoyed the complex atmosphere and the Tesla chargers. We appreciate your feedback about the bed firmness and will take it into consideration. We hope to host you again!

Verified reviewIt has the authentic retro Palm Springs style that we were hoping for. Quiet courtyard with pool, ping pong, hot tub, sauna and cold plunge. Coffee facilities and a fridge in room and a microwave in the common area. No staff on the property but had no issue with that. We arrived mid week and no other guests were there our first night so our toddler could roam free, happily.
Nothing within walking distance so a car is essential but it’s only a short drive to the Main Street and a grocery store.

Verified reviewThe style
No check in details via booking.com blamed by the owner on them, odd, I have made many bookings by the same method without issue. fortunately I had a local SIM so could call, many would not have. The whole property was glossed over, look closely and it was just plain dilapidated/dirty. It’s right under the airport flight path, fine if you want to wake at 0615 but not relaxing. Also due to the gap in the mountains the wind howls through, allied with the nursery next door a cacophony. What would have been the office is now a repository for all sorts of supplies mostly toilet rolls and Amazon boxes, unsightly. Also, given that it’s miles from anywhere, would I recommend it? No.

Verified reviewLove the swanky style.I wish we could have stayed longer. We only stayed one night due to an emergency we were driving to AZ. Not a party place, but a nice adult chill hotel with history.
I wanted to open the bathroom window for ventilation, but it was dark when we arrived and I wasn’t sure what was in the back since we were ground level. Also, there were a few things that were not there as advertised.

Verified reviewComfortable king-size bed Lots of hot water Beautiful sand colored floor tiles
Booking.com stated all rooms had kitchens. Room 10 di not have a kitchen.(Further information was scarce, unlike Booking.com's usual full descriptions) Our "apartment's amenities" were sparse - 2 coffee cups, no flatware, no plates. With a 3-star classification you would expect to find a tea-kettle and a microwave. Pre-stay communication was legalistic & bureaucratic (I had to do an electronic signature, take a face photo front & side view and sign an agreement contract; other communications were flowery and uninformative. A friendly staff person at HQ in LA had to talk to the team in Palm Springs to answer my query that they had no tea kettle. A later inquiry to the hotel (despite email avowals of wanting to meet our every need) went unanswered. No front desk, entry to hotel and our room only by entry-codes. AvantStay strangely described their philosophy as 'family friendly" but no kids allowed!) and "contactless" (but no human contact). It may've seemed like a good idea to convert a mid-century motel of architectural interest into spacious rooms with period furniture and cool decor, but we found the experience chilly and unfriendly. In addition there were numerous, old maintenance issues, some small, others of major importance which I've listed separately.
