The hostel is nicely located in the city with chinatown and the italian neighbourhood around the corner. The atmoshere is really good and staff is super friendly! We had private double rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen area in the annex building around the corner from the main building, which was nice for us as 2 families with teenage kids.

Very well located. The breakfast is decent for a hostel and the dining room is beautiful. I had the window bed, which was ok for me because I'm short but it may not be suit for everyone. In any case, great place and I got to wake up with the view to the Golden Gate bridge. They have a good deposit for leaving your stuff before check in or after check out.

The bathrooms tend to be more on the wet side.

The staff was fantastic, and the facilities were better than expected. The rooms were comfortable for bunk beds and well kept up. The accommodations and extra events that the hotel offers made the experience even more fun. I would highly recommend it and I can't wait to go back.

I stayed at the green tortoise hotel for one night. This is a great hostel located rights at the border of the vibrant Main Street in Chinatown. The bedroom and facilities were clean. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The price of the night in a dorm is exceptional for what you get. Private bathroom the private bathroom are very clean. The hostel was fairly quiet and the provide earbuds for the night. The common area was really cool, when I came it was a quiet night, but a lot of people were still hanging out in there. I also was so surprised, but the Indian restaurant in front of the hostel gave food so we had free dinner! The kitchen was well furnished, and they have a good system to keep it clean. Free breakfast in the morning was amazing, bagels, oatmeal, yogurt, jam, butter, juices, coffee, and fruit. I highly recommend for a group or solo travelers. I had a very good stay and I highly recommend.

It's not that I didn't like it the breakfast. It's a bit underwhelming.

Is very accommodating staff. Location, services. They have a sauna !! I had to leave a day early. I was able to cancel my last night, NO FEES ***FYI, I was under the cancellation guidelines **** I was there for the Bay to Breaker's race.And then I had a 1pm. flight. So I checked out at 6 am. They stored my bag and I asked if I could take a shower before I left for the airport and they said yes, just be quick. OK, and THANK YOU 😊

No prices on activities until they tell you when you start, most only in cash. No elevator.

Great common room downstairs. Plenty to do and room to relax or mingle. Room are quite big and comfy, not noisy when you move.

The noise carried because it was an old building. Some guests were just thought less.

They really tried to make the hostel sustainable. There was minimum plastic and a healthy breakfast with fruit, unsweetened Greek yogurt, great bagels and plenty of coffee. Staff were lovely.

Nothing much. But a lift would have been really handy and helpful. Had to carry heavy luggage 3 floors to reach my room.

Location of the property and friendly staff and were really helpful for travellers like me who were first timers. It had all the basic amenities needed and loved some events in evening including standup comedy and music nights.

My experience at Green Tortoise has always been amazing.
