How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. 1. When we asked about the continental breakfast, we were told there hasn’t been a continental breakfast since Covid 19. 2. There was no 24 hour front desk as the ad says. 3. There was no sprinklers in our room in case of fire. 4. The paper we were given with a list of local restaurants/food places, was not up to date. A few of the places had been closed for a long time. 5. I feel the Fair Bridge Inn and Suites in Highland Falls NY should be reevaluated knowing Booking.com’s standards.

Verified reviewI didn't like anything about it. The "inn" should more accurately be described as a 1950s motel. The bed and everything else about the room was awful. The parking lot was terrible and full of ruts. There was on only other car in the whole parking lot during the three nights we stayed there.
I paid for the three-day stay (March) when I checked out. I stayed for those three nights in one room with one other person (my wife) and our small dog. I paid for the three nights in one room using a credit card. Today I got the monthly bill from the credit card company which shows me being charged by the "hotel" for three rooms instead of one. The three charges add up to $1,660.90. As of the same date of March 3 there were two charges of $622.86 and one charge of $415.24. When I called the manager at the hotel a few minutes ago to correct the mistake he said that your company (Bookings.com) booked me for three rooms, not one. He said I have to pay for the three rooms even though he does recall that they were aware that nobody stayed in those two other rooms (anyone could plainly see that since the motel parking lot was empty except for one other car on the far side of the lot). He said that I have to pay for the other two rooms because (he said) your company (Bookings.com) booked them. Which is ridiculous. I am going to call the credit card company on Monday and refuse payment for all but one charge.

Verified reviewThe clean room but lacked privacy.
The first day was excellent because the stalkers didn't know where we were located. The staff had placed the key somewhere so I didn't have to go through all the signing in and explaining to keep my mines and mother whereabouts quite. On the second day the privacy was horrible. I didn't think I had to warned the front desk that there may be the same stalkers trying to have them put them close to my room because it was quite like explained earlier. So I tested the privacy like I do at all hotels and I heard this same stalker up above my paid room at Fair bridge Inn making sound watching me and my mom while we bathe. I tried it out again for a second night and I heard the unthinkable as usual. This will be my last time here because this hotel like others violated our safety and life. What lies I wonder they told this time. I am quite normal as I can be but I do know they follow my mother and I everywhere, and some hotel always fail to protect. I will be writing Congress and the department that oversee hotels to put in act safe to all guest who stay hotels of all kind from one to four star to no star. YOU PAID YOU MONEY AWAY FROM HOME AND YOU HAVE THE HOTEL STAFF UNCOVER YOU. To the staff person who knock on my door so that stalker can identify me is dangerous. YOU NEED TO RETIRED AS A HOTEL WORKER OR IF AN OWNER. WHEN WORKING IN THIS KIND OF STATUS YOU SHOULD KNOW SAFETY IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!! EVERYONE BE CAREFUL PEOPLE DO WATCH WHEN YOU ARE AT HOTELS. MAKE SURE YOU ARE AWARE.

Verified reviewThe like the set up of the room the upstairs and downstairs.
They could care more about their rooms, they are disgusting and there are stains all over the sheets and curtains. They need to care more about properly cleaning their rooms, curtains and sheets. I found 3 stink bugs, and carpet was nasty. If the place was treated with more care, it would be terrific.
