It was a beautiful place but there was no TV in our room. No refrigerator. Very small. We had no choice of pillows. We need flat pillows. All we had were very plump ones which caused neck aches and not a good sleep.

The bathroom could use some TLC/upgrades. Also, it’s a historic building, so it is understandable it is not soundproof. But you really hear all of the plumbing activity of the neighboring guests.

Super cool historic property, not in the middle of nowhere, but certainly tucked away. For fans of historic hotels, this is a great stop.

Lightbulb was out in the closet. The advertised pool is a KOA pool without clear path and directions.

The historical information and items throughout the inn make it a very interesting place to visit. Puzzles in the gathering room give visitors an opportunity for a relaxing indoor activity while lawn games provide great outdoor activities.

The housekeeping was a big disappointing, in that we had to ask for soap, extra TP, tissues, plus the upkeep on the hotel in general seems a bit behind. It also seems more expensive than warranted. It could also use a lift, with new linens, for example.

This old hotel is interesting, lots of areas for relaxing and reading, and a pleasant place to stay. The staff is very nice, and we enjoyed being there. Our room had a patio, which we liked very much.

They have given up on the golf course. Perhaps due to water restrictions?

Beautifully maintained historical hotel. Surprisingly comfortable for its age. Nice gardens and grounds. We had a delicious dinner in the hotel restaurant and enjoyed cornhole on the backyard.

We were unable to check into our room until around 5:30 because it was not cleaned when we arrived at the normal check in time of 4.

We had an excellent dinner in the restaurant. I had the pork tenderloin special and it was delicious.

We usually like to eat at the bar in the restaurant, which was available, but our servers were very average as far as service and asking for our order, etc. Did not display a cordial environment in our opinion. Also, we saw a sign on the way that this was a golf resort. Since the golf is so basic, I don't think the Inn should publicize this as a golf resort.

We stayed in the cottage which was a great room right off of the outdoor dining and they had entertainment that evening.

It was such a beautiful inn situated inside Redwoods. We really enjoyed complimentary afternoon tea time on the patio over looking the river. The hotel is a historic beauty, and would recommend.

Poor housekeeping -- they didn't empty the trash or replace toilet paper and barely pulled the bed together. And parts of the building definitely need repairs or upgrading. And food was good but overpriced.

There was no available TV in the room. If we would have known, we wouldn't have went. Will seriously think about alternate arrangements. We need to view the news morning and night. There was no Phone charger outlets/inlets available to charge our phones or iPads.......not a biggie for an overnight stay, but any longer and it would be unacceptable. Not telling us that the TV service was unpaid or out of action was serious dent in our enjoyment, Sorry that's the reality.

Quietness and Old School furniture and carpets. Bathroom water pressure and heat were excellent. Food at restaurant and bar were good.

The food was delicious, but portions could be smaller: I ordered a salad with a dinner entree, and it was enough for a meal unto itself. There was no refrigerator in our room, so we couldn't keep what we were unable to finish.

I love the design and decor in the hotel; the dining room has a welcoming feel and the food was delicious. The staff made us feel at home. We especially enjoyed the fireplace in the lounge, and the teatime scones. I love the woodwork on the staircases! The location on the Eel River is appealing and it is a pleasure just to sit in the garden overlooking the river. The proximity to Garberville anad the Avenue of the Giants was just what we hoped for.

Upgraded our room and got a hard bed and windows that did not open because of the noisy vents outside. There were cobwebs in the windows and behind the TV. When I said something, they cleaned up our room but didn't clean the cobwebs. Hotel was damaged by an earthquake and water leaks and not repaired. Sad. Golf course was not mowed and the greens were dead.

Such a lovely historic hotel that now has an elevator. Dinner wad excellent but pricey. The river view and terraces were lovely.

Me and my girlfriend went for one night to just get out for a bit for birthday, and we had an AMAZING time here. The bed was so comfortable, the view of the river was great and was so close to walk by; the only thing I would say is there was no TV or fridge in our room, but I’m assuming they offer ones with those things, we just weren’t paying attention lol. Overall an amazing time.
