Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaThe hotel could have made breakfast with options for overseas and regional guests. One the meal choices were limited except for the fruit platter that was of a great quality. There were days on Wednesday and Saturday that breakfast was not prepared at 06:30 but only at 7:30 leading to delays for most of the guests that had a set program. Dinner times could have been much more flexible given traffic delays in Kampala in the evening. I did not like the hotel charging me 47$ taxes making my bill more expensive than I thought.
The location was ideally located for the 8 day event I attended. I was satisfied with the size and cleanliness of the room

KenyaThe breakfast should be served as buffet which really saves on time and gives one’s choice. We felt the cost was a little higher compared to many hotels in Kenya and Tanzania

United States3 things: 1. My only comparison that made me kinda unhappy was that our incidentals bill was enormously higher by nearly twice as much as we had spent at hotel 4 others hotels 3 in in Uganda & 1 in Nairobi of hotels of similar quality for the same eating habits and buying behavior. 2. The hotel had no tea service in room. And the restaurant closes at 10pm or 11pm. 3. There was a clerk that didn’t offer me as a guess the best option for service and proceeded to withhold a pay option taking nearly 10usd in what she called “transfer trade in value”! This was disappointing when she should have offered us to pay at the register where card or usd are happily taken. (Customers should not feel unsafe or taken advantage from within a hotel that is made for service.) BONUS: I toured this hotel two days before I booked to ensure that the gym facilities, sauna & steam rooms would be operational before I would book. On my tour I was told that they were clearing it so I could see them but they were working. The entire 7 days that I was there the steam was working but the sauna room was under a full renovation. How to address these concerns? 1. Market research of industry standards. Twice the cost is so offensive to customers to discover at the end of trip that the bill exceeds the budget with the same buying behavior. (No drinking, no parties, no room service) simple dinners, & lunches and occasional cappuccinos, and pastries) 2. Offer Tea & Coffee service they are a standard accommodations for hotels of Hera’s caliber. 3. Ensure customers needs and options are met first. Confusion and underhanded dealings are not admirable business practices. Be sure clerks are properly trained. 4. Be sure amenity’s that are promised are available. Had they told the sauna was out, I would not have booked. Because I was leaving a hotel that did not deliver its promise therefore I would not book another to feel the same Way. I feel that I was somehow beat by this experience.
All but one staff person was great. Merab, Gloria, the ladies and gentlemen in the sauna service areas between 8-11pm were exceptional. The buffet breakfast was fair however guest are serviced a menu to regulate how much they eat as the “continental “, breakfast claim. Isn’t buffet, it’s a preset menu served from the kitchen. The meals that were DELICIOUS!! Rolex #1 Margarita pizza #2 Penna Pasta & Grilled Chicken #3 I would have preferred buffet breakfast. Merab and front desk receptionist ladies were exceptional. I worked for years at the Ritz Carlton Lenox in Atlanta, I trained exceptional service and fine dining, she is exceptional quality because her service is personal and takes steps to be authentic and gracious while anticipating the needs of customers. The Guard & Bellman were very good as well. Very kind and respectful. They check on us each time we went out to be sure we knew where we going and to offer to get us SafeBoda or to provide directions. The hotel has an air conditioned shuttle for cost that dropped us to the airport. Great driver who told a few more details about Kampala as we departed. We really like the gentleman.

United StatesBooking had the budget twin priced at $13.50usd. When i arrived the first guy said there was an issue and brought the manager. The manager said that they couldn't honor the price because the room was actually called the standard twin and was $90. To which he said he could give me a discount but never gave a price. I asked if he could call booking because it wasn't a customer issue and thought they should still honor the price. He refused and suggested I cancel. I had been traveling for the past two days, was tired, hungry & it was already dark(not good for Solo female traveler). I also had just sat in hour + long traffic, 30 of which were on the street of the hotel just 200km away. Luckily another customer overheard the whole thing and agreed and surprisingly paid the difference. The two males on the night shift didn't do so well explaining the facilities. The lady on The night shift was nice during the brief interaction We had. The room is VERY outdated. Bedding and furniture is old and outdated. Beds are super hard. I can tell that the hotel is probably chinese owned because of the lack of up keep. The facilities themselves are decent. The towels drying ruin what could be a really great 180ish view of the city on the rooftop. What made me give the place a low score was the interaction with the original Young man who said there was an issue with my booking. After breakfast I went to the front desk to ask for late check out at 1pm so that i could see the gym facilities. After some back and forth He agreed that 1pm would be okay to check out. Around 12:10 He calls asking if i need help with my bags, I reminded him that he said 1pm was okay for late check out. He said that's not what he said and threatened that if I didn't check out before 12:30 i would be charged Extra. It was just a very unpleasant experience at the hotel all around. Very scammy.
The place was realitively Clean outside of the ants, & creepy crawlers. Bathroom was great & comfortable. The restaurant staff was great, kind and nice. The dinner menu was soso. Breakfast was good and filling. The rooftop view is really nice but was blocked by all the towels Being hung to dry. There is a lot of space upstairs and pretty breezy during May at least the day I went up there. Th gym facilities look decent not top tier but pretty good. I didn't use them though. Not sure how they function but tete was a mechanic working to fix some of the machines. Room size was good.
