Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThis is a very cute and comfy little oasis in a quiet part of Entebbe with a very beautiful garden. Alison and Dave are wonderful hosts! Breakfast is great and staff is super helpful. Easily one of the best accommodations on our trip around Uganda. Highly recommended.

GermanyI’ve stayed at the guesthouse several times now, and I always find myself coming back because it’s such a beautiful and peaceful place. The staff are always kind, and the rooms are consistently clean and comfortable. This time, Alison and Dave were there, and they were incredibly warm and attentive—making my stay even more enjoyable.

CanadaAbsolutely beyond our expectations! We were met by Geoffrey who is an outstanding customer service agent. He was exceptional! They have a couple of super loveable dogs and the gardens surrounding the property were full of exotic birds, geckos and even monkeys! So quiet at night. The property is super clean and they don't charge extra for water! Dave, the owner, was a terrific host with a wealth of knowledge in the area as well as having access to other tours and guides should you wish to book a tour and have not yet. Put Alison & Dave's guest house on your list to visit when you are in Intebbe. I guarantee you will not regret it!

The location near the airport, the staff & George the friendly dog, the breakfast was top notch. Despite a twice time flight change that led to my arrival after midnight Charles was waiting to pick me up at the airport and Geoffrey was cheerfully welcoming. The deco is outstanding.

United StatesA couple of the issues below pertain to Uganda, not this particular accommodation, but here they are for the traveler unfamiliar with the country. The pillows are very flimsy -- but we realized that they are as good as in some of the high-end lodges in which we stayed in Uganda. Maybe pillows are not easy to find or not much used in Uganda? The nice digital instant water heater did not come to life on our first morning -- no lights, no response to our pressing buttons. The shower water was warm enough for comfort, but certainly not hot. At breakfast, we found out that there was a power outage, which explained the lack of function for the heater. The heater worked beautifully in the evening, with lots of nice hot water and intuitive controls. The room is tiny! There is ample sleeping space, with a king bed and a bunk bed, and there is a shelf to place some luggage. There were three of us, with only carry-on bags, and the place felt cramped. There is no space to sit inside, as the beds have nice, surrounding mosquito nets and there is no room for chairs, other than those outside on the porch. Because of the tight bed nets, it is not even possible to place bags on the beds to pack/unpack. While for the three of us the room was bearable, families of four staying there might find the space very tight. In contrast, the bathroom is actually quite roomy: although not exceedingly large, it is possibly close to half the size of the room. One more issue, there is no AC, but the room had a fan. We turned it on before going to bed on the first night, and went to sleep despite of the fairly noisy operation (especially in a small space). In the morning, the fan was off, which we attributed to the power outage, but we could not turn it back on the second evening. Friends who live in Uganda told us that the day when we were there was much hotter than normal, so probably the fan and AC are generally not needed.
We stayed in the "Budget twin room" which had some horrible reviews in the past, but much lower costs according to the reviewers. In preparation, we contacted the hosts, who are very responsive and kind, and they explained that this room has been renovated and it is now their best unit. The costs are now higher, but the accommodation is still very good value. Indeed, it looks very nice inside, and is in excellent shape. There were complaints in previous reviews about lack of hot water, which is now provided by a modern-looking instant water heater with digital temperature setting. There is space outside to sit on the porch, overlooking the beautiful garden and some views in the distance over the vegetation. There is ample parking just in front of this unit (which is separate from the others). We were the only quests when we stayed (the start of the rainy season), so we do not know how crowded the place can get. In addition to the hosts (who were not there during our stay), the best part of our stay was the staff: they were kind, attentive, flexible, and very helpful in all respects. The dogs are also welcoming and one cannot get enough petting (which our daughter was happy to provide). The property has a driveway gate that is opened from the inside, and the staff were there to open it at 2 am on the day we arrived, at 7 pm the next evening when we returned from a day trip, and the next day when we left early for our checkout. The breakfast was fabulous, with fruit salad, eggs, and toast, and the staff were flexible to serve it to us very early on the second day, when we were departing for our safari trip.

GreeceThe owner offered a taxi service to the airport for 40k UGX, which seemed a bit expensive to us. In the end we were able to find an Uber ride for half the price, but it is good to realize Uber isn't always reliable there. Also, I didn't realize that when paying by credit card there is a 3% surcharge. But both were only minor points in an otherwise very enjoyable stay!
The guesthouse is tucked away on a side street in a quiet neighborhood of Entebbe. Although we weren't sure how to check in, when we banged on the gate the caretaker Jeffrey soon came to let us in. A long driveway leads up to the home, nicely maintained in the midst of beautiful gardens. The room was as expected - small but functional, with screens, mosquito netting, warm showers and a fan. The area is quiet, but it's easy to reach the shops at Kampala road by boda boda. It's also a very short boda ride (or a 15 minute walk) to the harbor where the Shoebill tours leave from. Jeffrey was super friendly and helpful, and kindly prepared an early (delicious!) breakfast for us so we could make our sunrise Shoebill tour. The staff also let us check out later and hang around for a few more hours while waiting to go to the airport. We felt at home and well taken care of!

United Arab EmiratesWe stayed at Alison and Daves Guesthouse the night before our tour started. We arrived into Entebbe in the early hours. The staff here kindly arranged a pick up for a small fee. The guesthouse is located approx 10minutes drive from the airport. The staff at the property were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was nice and the property clean. It met all our needs.

AustriaThe lighting in the room could be improved a bit. At arrival, the room was a bit smelly (maybe from the sink) but not too bad.
Alison & Dave’s Guest House was both the starting and ending point of our 15-day camping trip through Uganda, and it was the perfect choice. Although we didn’t get to meet Alison and Dave themselves, their team gave us a warm welcome, along with two friendly dogs who added to the homely atmosphere. The room was clean, comfortable, and met all our needs. Breakfast was a highlight, with fresh fruits, a variety of egg preparations (fried, scrambled, omelette, etc.), and a choice of coffee or tea. From the terrace, we were treated to a wonderful sunset over Lake Victoria - a truly memorable sight. The team also provided helpful advice on activities to do in Entebbe. While we didn’t take advantage of these suggestions, as we were focused on starting and ending our camping trip, their recommendations were greatly appreciated. We especially enjoyed the conversations with the staff, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We can wholeheartedly recommend this guesthouse and would gladly stay here again on a future trip.

CanadaStaying at Alison and Dave’s Guesthouse was an absolute pleasure! Their home is lovely, and they made us feel right at home from the start. They spent time chatting with us and sharing their experiences of life in Uganda, which made our stay feel incredibly personal and special. They have a dedicated staff members who was attentive and available to help with anything we needed, making our experience even more seamless. The room was cozy with a private bathroom. For meals, they had convenient options to order food, and each morning they provided a delicious breakfast with fresh coffee and a variety of choices to start the day. It was a refreshing change from a hotel — the warmth and hospitality made all the difference. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a unique and welcoming stay!

SwitzerlandIt‘s the perfect place to stay. Alison & Dave are great hosts. They also have lovely staff, who are doing an amazing job. We booked all 4 rooms and had the property to ourselves. 3 rooms are in the main house, each with it‘s own bathroom. My husband and I stayed in the smaller cottage next to it, which the renovated recently. Now it‘s the nicest room with a double bed and also a bunkbed (there can be 4 people in this room). It also has it‘s own bathroom to enter from the room. The garden is beautiful and they even have a terrasse from which you can see the lake victoria. If we ever come again, we will stay there again. And it‘s so close to the airport! That a big plus.
