Location is really nice on the beach. Rooms are very nice with fan and also AC. Breakfast is also very good. You get a fruit platter and breakfast to choose from about 6 options. Restaurant is also very good. Happy hour for cocktails in the afternoon. Lovely staff. Wifi was OK. Lovely view from the restaurant. Free sunbeds.

We really had an amazing week with ZaVa. Lisa was amazing and so helpful. All of the staff were so friendly and always made sure we were all well looked after throughout our whole stay. The beach was 20 steps from our rooms, which was perfect. Breakfasts were great. Overall service was amazing :)

Bath mats could be bigger and longer shower curtains, so the bathrooms don't get flooded.

The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly; the room was spacious and very clean, as well as the common spaces on the beach. The restaurant is also very nice and sunbeds and beach umbrellas are available for hotel guests.

The toilet and especially the shower are a low quality with respect to the price of the accommodation

We had an amazing time here. The Hotel is right on the beach. They have their own sun beds we could use for free. The breakfast was great! There were multiple options, and you can enjoy a beach view while eating it. At the reception Grace helped us with every question we had. She can also arrange boat tours or other activities if you want to. She was amazing! The staff, e.g. Witnes and the guys, are also very professional and wonderful. We even played some Beach Tennis with them. The room was nice. There is enough space to put our luggage and there was warm water coming from the shower. They also have a generator during any power outages which was very helpful! We would recommend you staying here!

Excellent location, clean rooms, great restaurant and fantastic staff.

Water pressure in the shower is poor. The owner did try to fix it which I appreciate but it was still quite low.

Dear Liza and Zava team, What a joy it has been to stay with you for the week. It came after a weeklong safari mainly on washboard roads and your location and service was a beautiful follow on…. Our experiences at Zava were second to none. Anything we were not sure about was sorted out, Scuba Diving and in my case a local Barber…We also found as a family that the attention to detail was so thought through…being able to wash your feet, so as not to walk sand into you accommodation. A basket to bring your things to the beach…. The food was perfect, great choices and all that we tried over the week was delicious. The views from the restaurant both downstairs and up, extraordinary. I very much hope that we get the opportunity to visit again. The whole team made us feel very special at all times.

The location, just a few steps froma beautiful beach-no shoes needed. The staff were exceptionall going above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay. The food ws also delicious!

The room is a little bit shady and small, but it's only for sleep so everything is fine.

We had a fantastic stay! The hotel was spotless and very comfortable, with a beautiful beachfront location. The staff were friendly and professional throughout. The food was delicious, and the breakfast area had a stunning view—such a great way to start the day. We’ll gladly return and would recommend it to friends without hesitation.

My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights. The location was great. Watching sunset every day while having tasty cocktails on happy hour was so enjoyable. The staff were lovely and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and clean. The restaurant food was vert tasty. They also offered us early breakfast since we were going diving and had to leave early, which was very nice of them to come earlier and prepare the breakfast for 2 of us.

It’s a beach front hotel! The location is perfect and it was always clean.

There were outage issues and sometimes the water pressure in the shower wasn’t strong.

Just the food was not the best

I stayed at this hotel with a group, and we had a wonderful time. The location is perfect, with a beautiful view of the beach. The rooms were very clean, and the staff really took great care of us. There’s also a restaurant right at the hotel – the food was always fresh, tasty, and nicely prepared. A big thank you to the hotel manager. A few days before we left, I got sick. She went with me to the hospital, stayed with me the whole time, and even helped with the medical bills. I’m very grateful for her support.

Zava is perfect for a more relaxed vibe. The staff are so friendly and attentive, the food in their restaurant is fab and fast, the rooms are clean and there is fresh water available for use any time of day! Zava is in the unique position along their section of beach to not be completely cut off by the high tide each day which means there is always a place to relax in the sunshine! It’s close to many great restaurants and I found the beaches/streets safe to walk along on an evening to and from the hotel by myself. Taxi pick up from the ferry and drop off to the airport was seamless and the team were accommodating in allowing a much later check out given flight times. All round great stay :)

There is currently building work right next door to Zava where work starts early in the morning and ends quite late into the evening. There is also a beach club right next to Zava playing music which, didn’t cause too much of an issue at all for myself however for others who prefer a more quiet stay this may not be the place for you. The hotel does have security however, my observation was that they are quite limited in what they can do/do. There are many ‘beach boys’ up and down the beach who generally do move on with no issue however, there are typically large groups of Masai men who congregate next to the hotel who also follow you up and down the beach and tend to target woman. At times their proximity to the front of Zava where the sun beds were could be uncomfortable, felt a little like a fish bowl being stared at and watched at times. Some of the bigger hotels towards Kendwa appeared to have sections of the beach closest to the hotel that they/‘beach boys’ are unable to come up past a certain point. I understand that the beach in front of Zava is public however I wonder if any more can be done to manage this. There is also a lot of boat/jet ski traffic very close to shore which at times was dangerous for swimmers/snorkelers. Again, to compare towards Kendwa, I believe they had swimming only sections that made it safer for all who entered the water - including locals. Especially for those with children, this could be another consideration for Nungwi beach as a whole. All the above is no reflection on Zava itself and isn’t their sole responsibility to tackle. The issues raised are across most hotels, in my observation, in the area and is part of a wider issue.
