Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe gym is not up to standard. It is a small stuffy room on the top floor with a very noisy air condition system. At night it is quite scary to go up there and I didn't use the gym at all. The gym needs an overhaul and should be placed on the ground floor or on the first floor.
The hotel was very clean, the rooms spacious and well-kept. The breakfast and the internet connection were both fine. The location in Down Town Dar was convenient for our purposes. You can talk walks downtown and there are some nice restaurants close by. The rooftop terrace of the hotel is nice for a drink and food in the evening.

IrelandI was shocked to discover on my trip that booking.com is offering properties built illegally on stolen land in the West Bank. Is this the case?

CanadaNeeds sound proof windows, because there was constant prayer calls from a nearby mosque. Friday evenings are noisy at the 8th floor (where we stayed) because of music on 9th floor.
We stayed in 8th floor, executive room. The room was spacious and clean. That bathroom was large. Location is good, walking distance to ferry.

United KingdomBreakfast was pretty basic, at least to European standards, but decent enough with cereal, fresh fruit, omelette or pancakes, alongside gizzard and things that definitely weren't aimed at us. While a non-smoking room, one of our rooms smelt strongly of smoke which didn't go away over the two nights we were there.
Central location is great and handy for Dar ferry. Rooms were spacious and beds comfortable. Staff very friendly. Okay gym (no sign on door on 9th floor) and great bar, especially for sport. Unlike other people's experience, air-con worked perfectly and hot water good - just need to run the hot tap in the sink for a couple of minutes (as advised by the helpful porter) . We're a family from the UK and wanted to stay downtown and loved being able to walk the streets, included temple street with its amazing veggie Indian restaurants. But it's an African business hotel primarily, so bear that in mind. For its location and facilities we thought it was very good value. The fruit bats flying past at dusk (in July) was an incredible sight.

NorwayWe stayed here on a Friday night… got room on the 8th floor - but they had a concert on the 9th floor and we couldn’t sleep. Concert was finished by 24:00 so not too bad but ask for a room on a lower lever if it’s a weekend. Or join the party:)
Stayed here before - great hotel and super location. Staff are nice and they have a great roof top bar / restaurant with excellent food.

FinlandNo need for alarm in the morning, situated next to the mosque you are practically present at the 5 o'clock morning prayer. After a long flight a warm shower is so needed, here the water was lukewarm warm to room temperature at best. The offer to upgrade to a room with bath tub was making me laugh out loud.
Clean big room near to the ferry terminal and all services around. Good food at the rooftop and good breakfast was included. Pictures are accurate but at close inspection you will find some wear. Perfect stay for a night.

ZambiaThe pillows were a bit hard and there could be a little more light in the room provided for when needed. There aren't enough sockets or charging points and one socket was a fire hazard and need to be replaced or repaired.
