It was our first time to nungwi, And we found mawimbi bungalows quite easily the atmosphere of the resort was lovely Our rooms were ready early so we could check in earlier than expected the vibe was really nice one day I was in the pool and the staff climbed the tree and cut down a coconut and gave me one to drink fresh which was very nice Food was good and the host Carla looked after us very well

The location is fantastic, a short walk from the beach but just nice enough away to be out of the business of it. The staff here are incredible, so friendly, helpful and personable. The room was amazing abs cleaners were brilliant! The pool was lovely aswell!

The wifi was not working very well, but the host gave as a mobile hotspot, which worked a bit better. Nungwi is a place with more locals and commerce than all the other places we were. The beach was good but not as large and empty as in other places in the island. On the other side, there are shops around to buy souvenirs, many restaurants and places to eat.

The property is amazing and very beautiful. They have some nature around and the houses or bungalows have an African style. The breakfast was very good and staff was nice and welcoming. The closest beach is a 5-minute walk and is very beautiful. The colour of the sea is amazing! The place we stayed was large and the bedrooms were very beautiful. They also have a nice pool. They have a place to park the car inside the property and Masais work there as doormen.

The staff were amazing at mawimbi bungalows. It was my friends birthday and they went all out to make her day so special ❤️ we would recommend mawimbi bungalows to anyone staying in Nungwi!

The stay in Mawimbi was amazing. We had everything what we needed at the property. The room was cleaned every day, the breakfast was great and overall the atmosphere was amazing. Close to the beach and near by to the local shops. Host Carla greeted us when we arrived and was always avaiable. We felt like at home. Thank you very much for having us!

Nothing, everything was perfect.

I strongly recomend mavimbi bungalows hotel. It was so cozy and it felt like home. Carla and the staff made sure that we where comfortable. They where also so welcoming and helpful with everything. I will probably stay at the same hotel if I ever go back to zanzibar.

Great quiet location with wonderful garden close to busy Nungwi beach. Host Carla is lovely and does have several tips what to do in Nungwi and even organizes it for her guests. Staff super nice. Driver available on site. Will go again.

The bathroom is not really nice , sometimes there is no water to bath or even brush teeth . Electricity is on and off . WiFi is weak in the rooms . Breakfast is as good as just bread , but they say breakfast included .

The internet was weak and the power went out quite a bit

My friend and I had a delightful 3-night stay at Mawimbi Bungalows. From the moment we arrived, Carla, the owner, made us feel incredibly welcome—a perfect introduction to the charm of Zanzibar. The property itself was a lush, green oasis, providing a cool and cosy atmosphere. Our bungalow was spotless, with comfortable beds and a shower that provided hot water, ensuring a comfortable stay. The breakfast was delicious, and the friendly, attentive staff went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. The location was ideal, with the beach just a 5-minute walk away. It felt safe and secure for us as two women to explore, adding to the overall sense of relaxation and enjoyment. I highly recommend Mawimbi Bungalows for anyone looking for a serene, welcoming, and conveniently located place to stay in Zanzibar.

Great Hotel with nice little Bungalows, very clean, comfortable bed with Mosquito net and modern bathroom. The garden and plants are very groomed and the pool area is great for relaxing. Breakfast is delicious and in addition to the menue they offer every day (toast, cake…) they offer different additions (fruits, omelet, crepe …) that varies from day to day. The owner is very nice and helpful. It’s only 5 min. walking distance from the ocean. We felt very comfortable and safe.Incan highly recommend Mawimbi.

Everything was great including the service from Jackson and Gift who made sure we had good food and drinks. Carla the owner was awesome and always made sure to check in. Would recommend this spot to everyone. Location is great cause your a 2-3min walk from the popular beach and club.

The walk to the beach is a bumpy road, but thats not the hotels fault. The window net was torn and one night we couldnt sleep because of mosquitos and got several bites, which was annoying. They temporarily fixed the net. There is no airco as electricity is bad.

We liked the stay. The pool was nice, also some shadow outside so we liked that. The staff was trying their best. Breakfast was a bit basic. The manager was helpful.

There was no air con in the room and to be totally honest this is why I only did 2 nights. It was so hot and I just think for the price of the hotel it should definitely have air con as most hotels do on the island. The fan also isn't good enough it didn't spin fast at all

It's inevitable, but bees around the breakfast table weren't ideal but can't complaint. And sometimes in Zanzibar the electricity goes off and when it does if it's evening time / dark time, you momentarily had to stop a few things, including the ability to leave the place and walk to places nearby. Mawimbi is 5 mins walk from the beach, is not a lot and I prefer it as it's away from other hotels and touristy bits, but when the light goes off - as a solo female traveller - especially the first few days - I wasn't comfortable to walk by myself in the dark streets unless someone was able to walk/accompany me, and last there is a fridge in the room but because the issue I explained, the fridge isn't working and you won't be able to drink cool refreshing water. But staff is always accommodating and welcoming as I said, so you just had to go to the bar and people like Peter and MG were ready to offer you a good cooling glass of water + a laugh to two.

Let's begin with the fact that Carla Dolfi, the owner and all staff members are incredible, welcoming and have a great aura around them that make you feel at home and safe. A huge thanks to her and her team, from Peter, MG, Mr T, Jackson, Marco and the ladies and gate keepers. Great family I must say. Mawimbi is a place you have to experience and I am glad I chose to stay there as my first of 3 accommodations in Zanzibar. The Italian family hub, welcoming more Italians and tourists around the world was a bonus for me. I am Italian. Mawimbi place set me off to a good great holiday ahead, setting up the pace and my adventurous spirit as a black European female solo traveller in Africa. My first night was interesting - I slept with an innocent gecko in my room wall, I woke up with rooster loudly crowing "WAKE UP BEAUTY coccodeh coccodeh!" early in the morning, and the cigals's hearts beating so fast that I could even hear mine. I found all of this fascinated as Mawimbi offered me such a great encounter with nature and wellbeing, and I didn't know that's what I needed. Also, I appreciated the variety of activities Mawimbi has to offer, Mnemba island trip with Carla and friends was my highlight, please don't be afraid to connect and mingle with owners and friends because that might be the best ever time of your holiday. I liked their menu (listen the Curry chicken and variety of fresh juices were my fav) and Mawimbi's family hub way of making everyone feel welcomed is unique. I couldn't choose any better. Carla is a great host and very kind and will definitely recommend Mawimbi to everyone. Grazie mille ancora per avermi ospitata. Alla prossima.
