Very aesthetic and very attentive staff

I believe the hotel opened too early, they are really new and have a lot of things to work on. The jacuzzi in the rooms cannot be used, when you switch on the jacuzzi tap, rusty water pours out. The ceiling fan did not work in my room. There were constant power outages specifically around 7-8pm daily lasting between 1-10 minutes - the employees are very good and would provide me with a lamp. This place is called Kai Zanzibar Hotel and Spa - there is no spa. They recently opened their kitchen, i had a seafood platter and the fish wasn’t cooked throughout. In the Restaurant area, the salt and pepper shakers were empty. Whilst in my room, 3/4 women came to take inventory and they also noted that things were missing like some decor etc - it was awkward, could this not have been done before i checked in or before the hotel opened? The hotel manager also appears to be quite rude to the staff, i saw him harshly shouting at employees on two separate occasions, he even pushed a male employee at one point. I didn’t complain or make too much of a fuss because the place is beautiful and the employees are so kind but I do think they need to work on things and maybe reopen at a later date.

Beautiful property with a lovely pool. A hidden oasis in the heart of Nungwi.

Drainage in shower was slow. We would’ve liked some bath robes in the room.

We really enjoyed the aesthetic of the hotel it had a beautiful and welcoming atmosphere. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the bed was very comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep

We were disappointed that the pool closed in the evenings. Since most activities took place during the day, we often returned to the hotel later only to find the pool closed, which meant we couldn’t enjoy it. There were also power cuts during the day, which was inconvenient. The room was a bit smaller than expected with very limited clothing storage space, and the Wi-Fi connection was inconsistent.

The rooms and shared area is good however for the nightly price i expect when electricity goes off to have a electric generator provided for the place, the eating area is full of flies and bees.

The owner is amazing! Big thanks to him for the amazing stay and for making us very happy. The place, I cannot put into words how beautiful it is. The room, the breakfast variety, the pools, the design, the ambiance, everything honestly.

Nothing, everything is perfect. It’s only missing a bar

Beautiful design, clean rooms, delicious breakfast, friendly staff.

The smell in the room was unpleasant, and almost every day the electricity was cut and there was also no hot water during this period. In the bathroom, a piece of a nail was sticking out of the floor, so we asked for it to be removed before someone got hurt.

We stayed at Kai Zanzibar for our anniversary and couldn’t have picked a better place. The room was spacious, beautifully designed with earthy tones and local touches that felt both luxurious and authentic. Breakfasts were fresh and generous …tropical fruits, warm pastries, eggs made to order..The staff were so warm and genuine…they surprised us with flowers and even a slice of cake for our special day

If I had to mention one small thing … the hot water took a minute to kick in sometimes and they fix it..but honestly, it’s such a minor detail and didn’t take away from the amazing experience we had …ill come back ofc

We we´re here for two weeks for our honeymoon. Really beautifull hotel, great pool. Variety for breakfast too. We also did a couple of times our lunch and dinner there, was also very good. The staff is great, very helpfull, especially Harriet, she is really sweet. On our last day our flight was changed, we asked the manager Mounir if it was possible to get a late check out. We got the villa for a whole day untill 12 am! This was a special extra bonus for us, happy that we could chill and shower before we would go on our long flight back home. Kai Zanzibar, thank you for everything, you made our honeymoon extra special.

Wifi and electricty, but this was absolutly not the fauld of the hotel, it is a big problem on the island, so be prepared and pack an extern powerbank in your luggage.

The size of the Room was great.. very comfortable bed. The breakfast was good but very limited... The staff tried their best to deliver service though a bit slow... Close to the local market outside and other supermarkets... 5-10 minutes walk to the beach.. when we arrived we were upgraded to villa.. which was great

Besides breakfast the restaurant doesn't offer meals but will instead pick up something outside for you and plate it....they constantly suggested on particular restaurant near the beach which was ok but would have been nice to actually have food at the hotel.... A few mocktails and sodas... When we booked I assumed they had a spa but was surprised that they don't or are yet to have it I don't know... The amenities in the bathroom are just basic if I didn't pack our toothbrush and paste id have had to buy.... Overall I don't think my husband and I would be going there again if we decide to visit Zanzibar again... The day we checked out I got a message from reception claiming we left without paying city tax for our 4 night stay ($40) when it was the first thing we did before checking in .

    Property response:

Thanks so much for your honest review …and for staying with us! We’re really glad you loved the room, the comfy bed, the upgrade, and our team’s efforts to make you feel welcome. That said, we’re truly sorry to hear that some parts of your stay didn’t live up to expectations. We hear you on the breakfast variety, the restaurant setup, and the missing spa ….these are areas we’re actively working on as we grow and improve. We’re a new hotel, and while we’re proud of how far we’ve come, we know we’ve got more to do. Also, really sorry for the city tax mix-up. That definitely shouldn’t have happened, and we’re looking into it to make sure it doesn’t happen again. We appreciate your feedback a lot …it helps us get better. We hope you might give us another chance down the line and see what’s new at Kai. Warm wishes, The Kai Zanzibar Team
