How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff are terrific. Very accommodating and nice. It’s an enclosed compound. Very well maintained.
We struggled to locate it. We were after a long drive though & it was dark which didn’t help. The manager picked up right away when we called and walked us through it.

Verified reviewThe view of Mt Kilimanjaro in the morning, the welcoming staff esp' Baraka. The tranquil environment, the pool and the garden. The food being self service and plenty in portion. A very lovely stay in Moshi.. Definitely my stay now in Moshi
The road section to the property's gate (about 300 mtrs) is a bit slippery when it has rained and cars with low clearance might skid slightly. But in case you get stuck you can call the hotel to come and rescue you. It's adventurous. Not so bad.

Verified reviewClean and nice hotel
Didn't like the fact that when I had booked 5 rooms the hotel staff kept calling me to inform I can only have 3 rooms and they will cancel my other 2 rooms because they wanted to sell them in much higher price cause of kilimanjaro marathon.

Verified reviewThis hotel was very clean and comfortable. The location is a little outside of town in a quiet, green and calming location. The staff were friendly and it had a quiet and calming atmosphere. Our family including 2 young children had a great time. The pool was clean and the upstairs restaurant area was a great space to relax and enjoy our time together The restaurant and bar had enough choices and the breakfast was great.
Nothing.

Verified reviewQuiet place in a nice surroundings; large, comfy bed and large balcony with a nice view. We were allowed to check out later than specified, without extra charge. Very polite staff.
Problems with credit card payment - afternoon staff had not been trained on how to use CC terminal, thus causing a lot of confusion. Very expensive airport transfer ($50 one way, which is a lot since we got there from the airport for $20...). Dramatically bad access road. Food not great, especially overcoocked rice - albeit prices were reasonable.

Verified reviewStaff at the hotel. Baraka gave me a guided walking tour to Mweka Gate. Chefs would create personalized meals for me. Facility was clean everywhere. Views around the property were awesome. Get to view Kilimanjaro when it is not hiding behind the clouds. Staff in general was very nice. Since the property is at 4500 ft, it helped me acclimatize a bit before start of Kilimanjaro Trek..
No Wifi in the room. Did not bother me as there is good Wifi in dining area.

Verified reviewThe hotel is a very good standard for Tanzania and East Africa. Very clean, well configured, with good fixtures and fittings etc. The owner has not scrimped and saved and has made sure that guests are comfortable with hot water and good showers etc. The hotel bar
The price of the restaurant and bar was pretty outrageous in my opinion, although I am a Tanzanian resident who knows how much everything should cost and who is only used to paying in Shillings. $40 for a meal which you could've got in town for 10, $45 for a bottle of wine which you know is only $12 in the supermarket. I guess this is how most restaurants make most of their money...
Hi Andrew, Thank you very much for staying with us and we really appreciate for choosing Dual mountain View Lodge for your stay in Moshi. We also appreciate a lot for your feedback and views. However we understand your concern on our restaurant price, Dual mountain view lodge do charge a reasonable price for meals and drinks and our price for lunch is USD 15 per person for a two course meal and USD 20 per person for a three course meals for this year 2023 and this is even cheaper than most of the restaurants in Town despite us being out of town. I did went through your order and invoice well that was what was charged for Dinner USD 40 for two and the children paid in Tanzanian shillings for a burger and chips that was less than USD8 each. We don't understand where outrageous price come from maybe you should compare with a similar property in same location. The drinks too we are charging reasonable price that everyone is charging a round. Thanks Anna K Sales

Verified review- The food - The surroundings, in the middle of the banana and coffee plantations - The friendly staff, especially Baraka
- The shower is a bit too close to the toilet, a glass wall would help - No mosquito nets around the bed or at the windows
Hi Zeyny, We thank you very much for your stay with us. Thank you for the advice for a glass wall between the toilet and bathroom. We are working on it to improve our services. Verified reviewThe hotel is well located with a nice view on the Kilimanjaro. The manager was helpful and nice.
The swimming was a health hazard, green stagnant water unsupervised. The rest of the staff were loud and spent most of their time observing you.
Hi Marie, Thanks a lot for choosing to stay with us at Dual Mountain View Lodge. We are very sorry for what you encounter regarding the swimming pool. Our findings with Lodge Manager is that during your stay it was raining and windy and so some dust went into the pool. unfortunately you went there before it was cleaned otherwise we try to keep it clean to our best always. Its quite un usual to hear staff hear staff neglect their duties and choose to spot the guests whereabout, we spoke to them and offer a warning that this should not be repeated. Again on behalf of the lodge team and management we are very sorry for the incovenience encountered during your stay. and hopefully you will visit us again in near future. The swimming pool looks good on the hotel internet page but when you see it, you definitely don’t want to go for a dive! No TVs in the room Poor wifi in the back rooms of the hotel

Verified reviewThe hotel is really nice, located among a coffee plantation surrounded by trees and green areas, it is a very peaceful place to spend a couple days. The swimming pool is also really nice with beds though we could not swim because it was raining too much. The rooms are very clean and the bed was so large and comfy! The restaurant is on the rooftop with an amazing view over coffee plantation. The staff arranged a shuttle for us from the airport which was very convenient. I would add that the staff was really kind as they let us have a late checkout. I really appreciated this place and will recommend it.

Verified reviewGreat place in a beautiful environment. Barak and Haika went above and beyond to help us and they organised a trip to the Materuni Waterfalls and the coffe plantation. A trip not to miss if you happen here! The lunch at the coffee plantation was also great. They were so kind to organise breakfast for us even when we had to leave earlier on the last day. Food is great and cooked by the chef!
