Can’t use the kitchen

Everything was good. The location is nearby the beach. Room was super clean and even equipped with the safe. Shower water is hot and big. It’s really nice to stay with.

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed in! The location is perfect! The stuff is amazing especially Kerbina is really really kind! I felt super welcome from the first second. The beds are so big I never experienced a double bed in a hostel before. The rooms are really clean as well. Highly recommended!!

10/10 would stay here again. Best value for price I've seen in a long time. Staff were exceedingly friendly and accomodating- Kerbina especially was a wonderful help with my laundry, transportation, and other needs. Clean, beautiful, great location, helpful staff. Perfect.

The 4-bed dormitory was nice! Beds were spacious and had curtains. the room had AC and each bed had its fan. Staff was extremely friendly! Kelbina is always smiling and ready to help. The guards I met were also very friendly! I would stay there again!

Suggest adding soap to the bathrooms, especially with backpackers coming and going from countries all over the world. With the rising nightly price, suggest a refrigerator for storing leftovers, or a small kitchen area for cooking pasta, or a small meal. Eating out for lunch and dinner can get expensive if you don't know where to go.

I've been here multiple times now, and it's a reliably good, newly built place with AC in a great location. Beds have their own lights, curtains for privacy and it's relatively quiet, which is great—good common area and decent breakfast.

The breakfast is basic, but price/performance is perfect. There's butter, peanut butter and some sauces. There's a toaster for the bread. Each person gets two eggs per breakfast by opting out the preparation way - scrambled, boiled, Spanish omelet... Fruits is abundant (watermelon and papaya during my stay). Instant coffee and couple of variates of a Tanzanian tea are an option as well. Juice is available also.

No real downsides — as long as you’re comfortable in hostel format

I had previously stayed at a hotel owned by the same hosts, and I’m happy to see that this new hostel continues all the best qualities: spotless cleanliness, excellent service, a warm atmosphere, and a truly personal approach to every guest. Everything is brand new and tastefully designed. A great place to feel at home by the ocean. Nungwi is the best area to stay in Zanzibar.

I spent four nights in this hostel and had a great time. The hostel has only been open for about a month, but already seems very well organized and lovingly run. The rooms are spacious, extremely clean and are cleaned daily Another great feature is the comfortable lounge area, which has a workstation, a PlayStation and various games - ideal for relaxing or getting to know other travelers. Breakfast was fresh and filling every morning: omelette or fried egg, bread, fresh fruit as well as coffee, tea and water A special thank you to Nayssa, who is an excellent hostess. She gave me lots of valuable tips and was always keen to help and advise all guests. You can tell that she really cares that everyone feels at home here. The rest of the staff were also friendly and helpful without exception. The location is ideal - the beach is only a few minutes away and there are plenty of good cafés and restaurants in the surrounding area. I can highly recommend this hostel - for solo travelers as well as couples or friends looking for a relaxed and well looked after place to stay in Zanzibar.

Compass hostel was a real discovery for me! It's located just a two-minute walk from the beach. The hostel is new, very clean, and cozy. The staff is incredibly friendly and always ready to help. The breakfast is delicious and the atmosphere in the hostel is set for relaxation and communication.

I stayed at this hostel during my trip to Zanzibar, and I honestly couldn’t believe the quality I got for the price. From the moment I arrived, the staff were super friendly and welcoming—they really go out of their way to make you feel at home. They helped me with everything from booking tours to recommending local spots to eat, and they always had a smile on their faces. The room I stayed in was spotlessly clean, air-conditioned, and very cozy. After a long day exploring or chilling by the sea, coming back to such a comfortable and cool room was a treat. You can tell the place is well-maintained and that they really care about keeping it nice for guests. The location is just perfect—it’s literally just a few steps from the beach and would walk out every morning for a quick dip or to watch the sunrise. The whole vibe of the place is super chill and relaxed, with hammocks and little corners to read or just hang out. It was the perfect balance of social and peaceful. What surprised me most is how cheap it was compared to the value you get. Honestly, I’ve paid way more in other places and didn’t get half the quality. If you’re traveling to Zanzibar and want a great stay without blowing your budget, this place is an absolute gem. PS. This place is really safe as well! U could leave ur stuff the whole day and come back finding them untouched! Would 100% stay here again!

I like everything, it’s just that there were no other guest I can talk to since I came there during low season but for sure if it’s a peak then I will be meeting different individuals which will surely gonna happen when I get back there.

The property is so cozy, and very homie. I like the staff kindness and everything is so comfortable inside the house like from the toilet, the bed, the water is free.

I really enjoyed my stay here! The location is fantastic, just a short walk to the stunning beach. The hostel has a very laid-back vibe, and it’s easy to meet new people. The staff was welcoming and helped organize snorkeling and island tours. Breakfast was simple but tasty. If you're looking for an affordable place with a great atmosphere, this is a great option!
